The 3rd generation pokemon games have a large number of ROM hacks (fan-made games based on the 3rd gen ROMs). Have you ever tried any of those out and how do you feel about them?
Usually I am not a fan of hacks, but I enjoy them they are well made and since I own the original game it's not like I am stealing from the developers.
Some hacks are just so stupidly bad their fun-I'm talking about you Pokemon Snakewood-but other ones are really good by just having a harder difficulty or a whole new mesh of storyline and areas.
The hacks are pretty fun. I enjoy the ones that add things like new regions and Pokemon. I like challenges too like Nuzlocke.
I think they are pretty neat what modders can do with enough time and effort. It's quite cool. Like they said I loved the silver remake.
The most of them are not very good, they were just lazily made without any big changes. But there are also some very nice hacks, for example Chaos Black or Glaced something (forgot the exact name of it unfortunately). I also made one by myself a few years ago, but I never finished it as it was way too much work.
I'm not really into hacks. I find them to be a bit carried away with the stories really. The only hack that I really liked was the enhanced GBA version of Crystal. And later I found out that there was a DS release of the game which is Soul Silver.
