What do you think about the Boston setting?

I for one am absolutely pumped for the Boston setting. In most post-apocalyptic games, I usually lean towards survival in dense, urban areas (The Last of Us, for example). I literally can not wait to see how Bethesda decides to tackle the population of this area. However, I do understand that some people prefer more rural survival areas. I think it will be interesting to see how urban and rural will be blended in the world (if it even is). Thoughts?

You are pretty on point. I'd just like to add that I really hope Bethesda do well in optimizing the game, which is not an easy task considering the urban setting.

Well, honestly I hope to see a lot of foilage growing around the city, Like in The Last of us. I hope it has the "The world had ended" look like fallout 3 did. Honestly world design is one thing more companies don't look into deeply, but it adds a lot to the immersion of the game.

Although my stand on the boston setting is not concrete as I barely know anything about Boston or even what It looks like, I just hope the world is big enough and not too linear.

As someone who's not American, I really couldn't care less about the setting :p It could take place in Alaska, it wouldn't matter at all as long as we get to have a solid Fallout experience all over again.

The trailer did look interesting though and you do have a point about urban areas. It looked like there are more "developed" communities to visit and interact with so that would be a good change.

We already knew that it's going to be set in Boston when a leaked document revealed it all in 2013. I personally think that it's a great choice for setting. Previous games have also mentioned Boston, so it's about time we get to see what happened there after Great War. I am really looking forward to it.

PS - I think it's time for them to choose a non-US setting now. Let us witness the rest of the world of Fallout universe. We know that that things are pretty bad in US, but what about other parts of the world where America dropped bombs?

Obviously it will resemble Fallout 3 more than New Vegas, due to the metropolitan setting. It seems like we're seeing a dichotomy in the series, between the east coast post-apocalyptic cities and the barren wastelands of the west coast.

I preferred NV to 3, but I'm pretty excited for Boston. There's plenty of historic and modern buildings to make a diverse environment.

The whole thing about the Boston setting is supposed to be that the city is more advanced than other areas in the country/wasteland, right? I'm excited to see what they'll do, and I'm sure there will be plenty of room for rural areas that lack city buildings.

While I still hope to see a Fallout game set in New York, I'll settle for playing in Boston. I just hope there are more interior exploration than the other game. I would really like to clear out an entire apartment building full of raiders and claim it for myself to act as a base.

I'm pleasantly surprised when Bethesda set Fallout 3 on Washington DC, then even more pleasantly surprised when they set Fallout 4 on Boston instead of... well, anywhere on West Coast.

Looks like they set aside West Coast for Obsidian and old Fallout developer. Makes me happy.

Boston looks like it may be somewhere in-between DC and New Vegas. DC was interesting at first, but got to be annoying, considering it was 200 years after the war and people still couldn't keep traders anywhere near safe or clean anything up. New Vegas was more along the way as far as civilization, but I can see that the desert setting isn't going to be everyone's favorite (oh, another cactus). From what the previews and trailers show, it looks like Boston will be more inhabited than DC, which will make for a more interesting experience.

See, I don't really care either way about the Boston setting, but I'm sure it'll look fantastic either way. (Though I'll be honest, I was psyched about the FO3 D.C. locations, cause I've been down in D.C. so many times, and loved recognizing the different monuments and areas, hah.) Though I'm curious to see how it will all look!

Super pumped for the more urban setting, hopefully this means a higher population density. I'm also interested in what kind of wildlife/mutants we'll get to see in the area.

I`m really curious how they will implement the setting. And the mysterious Commonwealth is just a few clicks north of Boston. Hopefully, that will be a major plot point in the game.

Same here, I guess that we are all very excited and can't wait for the game to be released. :)
I hope that the game will be planned out well and that the graphics will be stunning. :D

I completely agree with you. What's the point in having an open world if there's nothing in it?

I love playing in urban environments. I enjoy seeing how cities change in a dystopian setting, especially one based on a real city like Boston. One of the things I most like about Fallout is the way they build entirely new worlds that parallel the real one.

I'm fine with it i guess.. i was hoping they would have returned to to LA like the first fallout setting. If you're going to do an urban setting why not Chicago or NYC?

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot about them after doing that quest that involved finding the rogue android...maybe we'll meet characters from the third game there or at least have some callbacks to them.

That would be really cool. And also, it would be really nice if they somehow explained more about that mysterious organization. They seem to be worse then the BoS in terms of secrecy. :D

Apparently the reason why Bethesda chose Boston for the setting of fallout 4 is because Boston has the right mix of American history and modern technology.

I am sure people of and from Boston will be more than excited to play Fallout 4. Too bad it won't look anything like the Boston that is right now.

I was kind of bored of the deserted wasteland in New Vegas and FO 3. A more urbanized world will feel more "alive" (perhaps a bad word for a post apocalyptic game :p)
