What Hardware & Gfx settings you used to beat the game M2033?

    CPU: Intel i5 3570K (Non O/c) | GPU: HD7850 CFX (1200/1450) | Settings: High, no Dof, Dx11, Tess, no physX, 4x MSAA, 16x AF | FPS: 92.77

    CPU: I5 2500k @ 4.6ghz | GPU: GTX 580 (905/2200) | Settings: Same as above | FPS: 55.88 | Memory Usage: 894mb | RAM: 8GB DDR3 1866mhz

    CPU: PII x4 955BE @ 3.2Ghz | GTX560Ti x2 (880/2100) | Settings: Same as above | FPS: 55 | Memory Usage: 812mb | RAM: 8Gb DDR3 1333mhz

    CPU: AMD FX-6100 non-oc | GPU: 7870HD (1000/1200) | Settings: Same as above, AAA | FPS: 54.68

    Post in this format :

    CPU:
    GPU:
Settings: (Be very detailed if possible)
FPS: (From the benchmark, do 3 runs and post the best run)
    Memory Usage:

    Example:

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 Black Edition @ 3.7Ghz
    GPU: 2x MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC (880/1760/2100)
    Settings:
    Dx11, High, No Advanced DOF,No PhysX, 1920x1080, 4x MSAA, AF 16x
    FPS : 70.65
    Memory Usage: 915Mb

People are requested to post the settings they play with, NOT low settings just for the sake of the benchmark.

You are free to post a second FPS if you try the benchmark with overclocked settings, but it kinda defeats the purpose because you want to use the normal clocks that you'd use during gaming.

I might do it for other popular games or other people might do it if this thread becomes popular :D

Could you please link to a programme for benchmarking games? I only know of standalone benchmarking programmes, like furmark or 3dmark.

Umm if you update metro to the latest version the benchmarking suite is present within the game itself :p

And with that update you get the new weapon(s), Volt Driver and another, it also enables ranger hard core.

No problem, If you've installed the update,

Goto your Metro 2033 Game directory

from there Open metro2033benchmark.exe and you're good to go!
set the usual options as you've set them in the game and you're good to go!

when totally maxed out, dof: on and settings very high, I got an average of 49fps, but some scenes were a stuttering mess. The game is really demanding even on the best of gpu's, either that or it's badly coded.

Yes sir Metro is one of the most demanding games ever and that is why its still used as benchmarks today even a couple years after its release.

Somewhere I read that the DOF isn't optimized, and in Very High the shadows are detailed beyond reality or something,
looks like I'll update the post with everyone's settings in the first post.

P.s. enable physX to add oil to fire! :D

I think everyone should use the same settings if your doing a speed comparison as it will make things fair and easier to update the original post. You can use my screenshots so people know what settings to use.

Also the Metro Benchmark can be found at (For those using Steam):

    C:\ Program Files (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > Common > Metro 2033 > Metro2033benchmark.exe

For those that are unaware, the "MSAA" used in the game blurs the entire image slightly, which is not what normal Msaa does. For those like myself who play on large screen, or a low res screen, any blurring is not good at all. This is also why i don't use the "very high" setting, which blurs things in the distance.

Another thing i'll add is that the difference between dx9 and dx11 using the "high" setting is tiny. I took comparison shots at about 15 different location in the "exhibition" level and the only difference i found was the DX11 being slightly brighter near lights, like turning the brightness of the lights up 10%, but that was all i noticed, the graphics processing looked exactly the same. Thats with DOF and tessellation off in DX11.

I'm eager to try this out, and if you may, post your screenshots on http://screenshotcomparison.com/

If you have the exact same image with just dx9 and the other with dx11 this will work great.
