Would you find this amusing or not great at all? What if MS did something like this to Minecraft? Make the graphics look more realistic? I personally would want to play this but I'm sure there's going to be a lot of changes when it comes to gameplay.

That looks cool to be honest but I'm not quite sure if it will work. I mean look at the game, it looks very non linear with that sort of graphics so it might be hard to build stuff not unless you will do a complete overhaul of the game and change up the rules.

I think that is the next step in Minecraft, with the acquisition by Microsoft.
They will probably take the engine and pretty it up with better graphics, which is currently one of the things that might keep some people away from the game.

I would never play it again. That steals the unrealistic tinge that minecraft has. Having simple graphics make minecraft a magical game. Doing that to the graphics would overall kill the game. It would just be called mining simulator 2014 or something.

My first reaction was that I would love it but after thinking about it I don't think I would actually be very happy with it. I like the blocky style of everything in the Minecraft world. That's one of the things that makes it so original from the rest of the sandbox style games. I might still play but it would just feel like every other game in the genre. The online servers would be pretty fun. They do have some cool texture packs that have pretty realistic visuals.

one of Minecraft's biggest draws is its simplistic and accessable graphics and gameplay. It allows you to differentiate one block from another. Skeuomorphism would just further complicate the game and take away from what makes it special.

Now this would be progress! That is just a beautiful rendition of the game. Where did you find it? With the next gens coming into popularity, or even just on powerful PCs, graphics like this would be awesome. Microsoft is the perfect company to remaster the game like this.

That looks amazing. I reckon it would be a great change that I would look forward to, however I think it would be very hard to make it work due to the sheer randomness of Minecraft. If this does become possible, I feel like it would get a lot of new players into it, however I feel some Minecraft veterans might prefer the blocky feel to Minecraft, so maybe there should be an option to switch between graphics.

I definitely love the blocky feeling of the game at the moment but if Minecraft will look like this in the future I will still play it!
It won't have that same old feeling but it will definitely look pretty cool! I'm really interested in what they will do to this game.

    Is that Rust?

I don't like it at all. Firstly you're building with squares, so there's just no way you can make that look natural when it comes to the world. You have to give the illusion of roundness or "pixels" I suppose. You can't make it realistic and any attempt to really do so is a bit stupid.

I can see that happening and they raelly should do something like that. But not as a sequel but maybe as an off shoot, something like Minecraft HD, I bet you it would sell like hot bread as well.

No doubt it would sell a lot, but instead of an offshoot I see this as Minecraft 2, the ideal to me would be Minecraft 2 having a "classic" graphics option where it reverts to the old Minecraft graphics.

I'll probably not play it. There are many survival games that has realistic graphics. The graphics of Minecraft which makes them unique and fun.

I like it, but I don't think it would still feel like the Minecraft we know, it looks far to different, almost like a completely different game. I like the way Minecraft is, blocky, and the graphics aren't the most fantastic, but it's what I've learned to know and love. I really hope they don't do something like this.

    It'd probably be super laggy.

Well I agree with some, because I think that since it has been bought it will be like this. I can play the game like this too, so I am not too worried about that. I think that it may be some lagging as well, but it will work out fine.

I don't see why Microsoft would do this. If they wanted to make something like this, it would almost be easier to just start from scratch because you'd have to change the way you place blocks and gather materials.

LOL! That actually looks really nice, but that would really take away from the MINECRAFT itself. The point of Minecraft was to make it look like it's lego. But I think that if someone were to make a second version of Minecraft, this would be so perfect! I'd totally go for it!

It looks fine, but anyone that knows anything about Microsoft and thinks they'd implement such a change doesn't actually know a thing. The company has worked with Mojang for multiple years now to bring Minecraft to the Xbox 360 and now the One, so they know not to make such a change.

Well, a realistic approach to MC would be nice if only offered as a resource pack + mod/plugin to make those enhancements. I wouldn't want it to be the default values for MC itself though. For example, I already play with shaders and that does enough of it for me:
