I think the most useful animal in Minecraft is a chicken. The feathers provide material for arrows and the eggs are good for food and more chicken too. They're the foundation to my food bank, most of the time when I'm playing.

I agree that the chicken is the best. Cooked chicken is good for food, and the feathers are important to me as I am strictly a bow man.

I think that cows are great. They provide you with leather, which you can use for things like armor and books, and they also provide you with food. Steak is one of the best foods in the game. In fact, I think that it's the best! I'm always using steak as my food source. Plus, they're pretty easy to farm and breed.

Everyone seems to be saying Chicken, but I think you meant to pick that for the most "Annoying" animal in the game. I will pick the Wolf, because if you get enough of them in your base area then you can release the pain to any mob that comes at you.

I think Cows are the best. They give you good food and leather wich can be used for some basic armor. And who doesnt want to label his chests with itemframes?

The most resourceful one would be the Chicken, due to the large variety of resources it provides, I've never really been much of an archer, but the feathers are still a rather nice drop.
Also the eggs are awesome for making your own farm, and for making cake, of course. Never really been that much of a fan of roasted chicken, though.. I prefer steak.

I like cows better. I think they look better but that's my own honest opinion. And they're much easier to breed and stuff haha.

When you have a decent setup, chickens are worth the most because of the time/effort to reward ratio.

You can just make dispensers that chuck out eggs and make chickens hatch, you wait a bit, collect the eggs, refill the dispensers and murder the chickens. Seems pretty straightforward to me, provides a bunch of food and feathers for arrows.

If you just have a dirt hut in the ground, I think cows are the best, seeing as they drop the most food, have the largest hitbox when you want to kill them, and if you're in a pinch leather can be used for armor.

I like cows over chickens because the only reason I keep animals is for food or aesthetics. Based on this, steaks have a better saturation than chicken. Also leather is useful for books and item frames.

I personally prefer cows, because food for days and leather (I honestly wish there were some more uses for leather.. Maybe sometime in the future, I hope)

I think cows are the most important, not only do you get lots of food out of them, you get leather which gets you basic armor and lots of other different things.

Cows! The meat is for food and the leather is for books. I can make a sugarcane farm and make tons of books for enchantments. With those books I can fully enchant all of my armor and tools with minimal cost and take on bigger challenges in the game. Plus, I just like how the Steak looks :p

I would definitely have to say cows. They give you leather, xp and they are the best food source in the game. I wouldn't mind owning a few Mushroom-Cows either though. ;)

Cows are super useful. As long as you have your wheat supply and breed enough you've got leather armor to last. Wolves are cool, but mine take too many bones to tame, along with that they glitch pretty often.

That's the problem with wolves, they're really unreliable, but I guess it makes sense, them being wolves and all. :)

I can't just pick one, but if I had to I would pick cows, mostly because of the leather but also because they're decent food.

Probably sheep. They have an unlimited supply of wool, as long as you provide plenty of grass and sunlight. On survival economy servers, you can even sell the wool for money!

Chickens, you can mass produce them by mating them together, and then once more babies get born then you can use those eggs that get produced in order to make cakes, or just throw 'em on the ground and get a 1/10 chance of getting another chicken. You also get feathers, which are also useful.
