WoW has been around for ages, and I know that is a popular MMO. However, I never understood the purpose of WoW or the objective. How is the combat system? Is the world endless and free or do you have to go to specific places to do quests? Does WoW still have a huge player base?

    Thanks for your responses!

As far as I'm aware, that's totally up to you. There are specific quests that help with leveling and a storyline like a lot of mmos have. However, whether you choose to do them or not doesn't seem to have much affect on the play.

WoW is a fantasy multiplayer game with RPG elements to it. Overall it's a social game so to speak. You can play the game solo but the thing that makes WoW what it is- is the social aspect of it. The combat's alright but the game's 10 years old and it kind of shows in the game's mechanics. Spells will follow you through an entire zone because there's no active 'dodge' system. The world is pretty expansive and the map has level specific zones that you can go to in order to level. The player base is still large, right now there's 10 million players that are subscribed in the game.

Maybe you should try playing it if you've got so many unanswered questions. Free trial, your new friend.

There isn't a free trial anymore and there wasn't at the time of your comment. There are starter edition accounts but that isn't the same as the free trial was.

Yes, no more free trial however if you know someone who plays, you can ask them to Recruit you and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to do so....I think the RaF is still going on, at least (a quick Google search made me think it was). I think WoW is an excellent game, a great value for the money and just overall a nice game to have on your computer if, like me, you want something to relieve stress/pass time. WoW has a bad reputation sometimes for being addictive (and it feels that way) but when used responsibly it's perfectly fine. Like anything, moderation is key. If you sit there for 36 hours straight you're going to have health problems no matter what lol.

WoW is one of my favorite games. For a year or two I considered it a second life because of all the possibility. It really is in itself another life, as you have your character that can do so much from selling things they craft, to hosting a dance party with friends. The universe of WoW is so much fun to explore! Some of the magic of the world was lost when it became easier to move from one side of the world to another in a split second. The world seems smaller now, but it's still super amazing!
