I love building my homes out of oak wood because I think it's the nicest looking wood that you can find. Jungle wood just looks ugly and oddly colored to me, and birch wood is okay, but not as nice looking as oak. Although, has anyone ever succeeded in creating a home out of more rare material outside of creative mode?

I build castles out of stone bricks. Not sure about you but I love having thick 4x brick walls defending me from griefers and people attacking my castle. Oak wood also looks quite nice I admit, but I rarely use it if i'm building a castle.

Ice is such a fun building material. The slippery property is hard to find in any other material and I think it makes the game all the more risky and fun. One second, you could be jumping up the stairs, the next, you could be half dead. Ice is also good looking and semi-transparent(atleast, that's what I remember it as). Blue is a nice colour for building materials.

I usually prefer making my houses out of wooden planks and wood, the floor would be made from wool, maybe and the roof would also consist of wooden planks and stairs. I usually build them on mountains, so I also make a balcony out of wooden planks and wood, and a couple of fences so I don't fall down and die. In short, my houses are usually made of wooden planks and wood.

I am a big fan of how Sandstone looks, it really has a smooth look to it. I am also a fan of Birch wood, I never understood why people liked oak wood though, I suppose it would just depend on what texture pack you were using.

Same here. I'm much more into Birch wood. I think I would have to go with that as my favorite, even if it doesn't look as good as some of the others.

I use cobblestone a lot because you can get as much as you want with a generator without much work. That means stairs, fences, slabs, the works. But I love how birch tree wood looks before crafting with them. Spruce tree wood is pretty after crafting.

It depends on the story that I'm building in my head.
If I'm building a big secure location, I prefer stone, but if it's a relaxing cabin in the woods I'll use wood because it looks great.

I think I've been using stone brick a lot! It's probably the number one material that I go to when I want to build. It's even better when you can make crazy designs by adding in other blocks! Stone bricks and cobblestone work pretty well with each other.

I like to use stone in general! I can make smooth stone, stone bricks, stairs, fences, everything I need to make a good build! It's super easy to get by just mining. I can just go mining and find materials while also filling my inventory with building blocks. It's super convenient to use and won't burn down if you try to make a fire place or accidentally burn a block.

I usually build into mountains in order to save time, and to better make use of terrain in order to be safer. So I suppose cobblestone, it's easily available, looks nice and has less uses than wood does.

It depends what I'm building, but I think oak wood logs go quite nicely with birch wood plants. I never really though about putting the two together until someone sent me a screenshot of a house they built :p

Cobblestone. I really like castles and most of the time I have a lot of it laying around, because I mine a lot. There's just so many cool buildings you can make with mainly cobblestone and some other materials for details. Cobblestone is extremely versatile and so easy to get.

Yeah, but won't it look kinda' ugly when you make a castle out of cobblestone? I would prefer a castle made out of cobblestone, stone and stone bricks combined, it would look way more cooler. But I do understand however, you would end up with stacks and stacks of cobblestone after a mining trip, so it would be a plentiful resource.

Cobblestone! There are different varieties of the block, and it can make things seem much more interesting. You can retrieve cobblestone inexpensively and easily, and it is extremely versatile.
Cobblestone can be used in building from using it to build the roof of your house, to using it for the walls of your castle.

Obsidian, because its a great material for a house. It will be hard to destroy. Also, I like wool because there are different colors to make pixel art with, but unfortunately, burns easily and quickly.

I prefer cobblestone because it is plentiful and hardy. I do like brick, but by the time I have harvested enough of it to build something decent, I have already so much cobblestone from mining that there really isn't any point.

I think it would be cool if Brick was given a slightly stronger resistance to explosions, just for the extra motivation for people to take the time to harvest clay, make bricks and build with it. Otherwise using cobblestone makes more sense for the simple reason that it has the same durability and is much easier to get.

Wood. Any type of wood really. It gives my building a nice old look and it's really pleasing to my eyes.
