My opinion on griefing is that you should go to a different server, play single player, or make a private server. People need to not get so angry over a video game, and just deal with it when someone is being a jerk online, just leave the server and he can grief himself if he wants to. I just go on servers with protection for your builds so people can't grief my creations. What is your opinion on griefing?

I don't really mind "griefing." I think that's the cool part of Minecraft, people can collaborate and be creative together. Now, I differentiate that with destruction. If someone is pissed off and burns down your house, that's just being mean and shouldn't happen. That's a green light to start a war... which even then is fun.:)

I think griefing is fine, as long as the people doing it aren't cheating to do their griefing in any way. If they're doing it legitimately, then I just think of it as another aspect of the game.

I agree with you 2, I believe that Minecraft is about doing what you want, and if the server doesn't want griefers, they should take actions to prevent griefing. There shouldn't be a entire stigma against griefers in the Minecraft community, it is just unfair to people who want to play a certain way.

My server doesn't allow griefing, but does allow raiding. There is also no world protection outside of towns. The reason for not allowing griefing isn't anything to do with the way someone wants to play, and I don't mind if someone wants to. The reason the server doesn't allow griefing is because no one likes to join a server and see a load of broken buildings around spawn.

I think that if people want to grief, they should group up and go to a specific server. They should also try to adhere to other people's choice in the game, if the people in it don't want griefing, griefers should respect that. It's really mean for them to start destroying or sabotaging other people's creations.

Yeah, I think this is the reason that griefing is looked down upon. Some people put a lot of work into making buildings, and some people aren't great at building so it might look nice, but it might be the best thing they've ever made and it's not fun when someone just walks in and breaks everything.

I love servers where griefing is allowed, because it adds to the danger aspect of the game. Overall, it makes the game more exciting, knowing that your house could be burned down at any time. It means you have to take extra action to protect it, which is fun.
Griefing is a good way to make rivalries with people, which, like mcjonesqwe said, is ridiculously fun.
Besides, if server owners don't like it, they can take action to stop it, so I don't think that griefing is a problem at all.

It is going to happen in any Multiplayer game you play. People can be a-holes and will be because there are no real world consequences for destroying another players hard work. It is just a fact and a trade off on being able to play with other groups of people.

Griefers suck and the only way to get rid of them is get them banned from the server.

I hate it. If I wanted to be harassed in a survival game, I would get on Rust, as it's much more appropriate there. I like to get on Minecraft to build things, and to have some random person come bust it down for no reason is frustrating.

I like servers that allow griefing much more, because it adds a lot to the suspense of Minecraft, it gets a bit boring when you have everything and nobody can take it from you no matter what. Griefing allows rivalry and things like that, having all out wars against groups are some of the most fun moments in Minecraft for me.

I totally agree. I think there should be a private place for people who want to do that.

Well "griefing" is inevitably going to be a permanent part of the game in every single server unless it's literally impossible to grief due to plugins. People are mean sometimes, destroying your structure brings them pleasure. Watch iCanHasGrief's YouTube channel and you'll see what I mean. But when people are using cheats to grief, that's not the way to go. That's when it's really messed up.

I tend to think that Griefers are like those kid bullies that go around and knock other people's sand castles or Lego bricks down. People took a lot of effort to build the darn thing and then they just go ahead and destroyed it.

Griefing is hilarious. I love the reactions that people give when trying to cope with a destroyed house/lost materials. It's even better when the person gives it back; because most griefers just leave without giving anything back and people just give up.
"OMG, all my stuff is gone now..."
It always brings a smile to my face seeing griefers, I'm glad they exist.

Griefing is stupid, but every server is different. I don't like to deal with it, so if someone start's with griefing, I just end up leaving and going to a different server or something.

It's part of the game so I have come to accept it. It still annoys me sometimes though, but I just try to look at the fun side and plot something even more fun. After all, you can do whatever you want in this game, hopefully legitimately.

Well there is nothing worse on minecraft than to have spent a considerable amount of time and effort into constructing something just to have some destroy it. Also I would be one of the people to ban the griever and just ignore them afterwords.
