My little brother, who is getting into Minecraft, recently got a "redstone handbook" and it occurred to me that I don't ever really use redstone. I've never built a big contraption like I've seen on youtube and even in his handbook. Help me out, guys. What are some of your greatest redstone machines that you've built?

I once built a minecart station for the small server I played on. It would automatically dispense a minecart and you could pick the destination with the click of a button. I was so proud of that!

I made a very big defense system that if you stepped on the huge line of pressure plates that surrounded my base, then you would get blown up and shot to death by TNT and arrows.

I made 2 extremely large sand generators. I'd be generating about 1 stack of sand every 3 seconds or so. Caused immense lag if I accidentally turned it on and didn't quickly gather though. Admins of the server caught wind of it and weren't very happy.

I made a huge labyrinth that was very difficult to navigate because there were many gates that were on a timer and some that had a switch all opening and closing. At the end of the labyrinth I had a TNT trap to reward anyone who actually made it through.

Me and a buddy on mine once built an advanced door bell. You just had to push a button and it would generate 3 sepereate rings, with a pause of about 0.5 sec between them. Never really had a big use for it though haha :D.

I'm one of those people that doesn't do much with redstone, other than the basics. I've never created something that you'd call incredible, but I always create functional things. I'm just not that creative when it comes to the large scale, at least with redstone. ;]

We had a mass obsidian producer one time, that was really cool and moving blocks in it resulted in hilarious accidents.

I built an auto smelter that smelts a stack in under a minute, and also refills coal/charcoal/lava so I don't have to worry about anything! :D I LOVE IT SO MUCH!! It uses a TONNE of Iron though for all the hoppers (totally worth it!!)

It also smelts continuously...so I can put in 12 stacks and come back in 5 mins and they will be done or almost done. Sometimes I like to get rid of the hoppers on bottom though so I can get things out myself for the xp :).

I tried building an auto sorter but I am extremely unhappy with every solution there is for that so far.

Nice, did you make a YouTube video on it or anything? I would like to see it.

It was veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery close to this tutorial...but I had 8 furnaces and I didn't have a fancy light to tell me when I needed fuel (because I flooded the system with more than enough). Also this uses a 3rd of the hoppers. I altered a much earlier design which did not have fuel refilling capabilities so this one is much much better. Will likely do this one next.

My hybrid TNT cannon is my favorite contraption, I can get into any base I want to.

The only redstone contraption I made myself was a sand elevator. It wasn't too fast, didn't go too high and was very prone to breaking, but I made it entirely myself! It worked to an extent, so I was pretty proud. :)

I tried making a computer with 1's and 0's. It was hard I finally gave up on it. But that can be hard lol.

Yep, making computers are really hard unless you're pretty skilled.

I'm like you and I really have never gotten into it. The craziest I have ever SEEN though would have to be a material replicator on some mod a friend had. You put in one of whatever you wanted to duplicate, and wood and it made a hundred of whatever it was.

I've never been too into redstone, but the most I have ever built has to be an elevator.
