What kind of players do you expect to see in GW2? Due to the game being B2P i been worried it would be flooded with kids but I thought back at GW1 and it being B2P as well the community wasn't so bad however because it was instanced interactions with random players were a lot less, so I expect GW2 to be different since we'll have so much more interaction, world pvp, dungeons and especially dynamic events.

I dont think well see alot of Kids in game. Most kids would rather spend there money on Black Ops and Modern warfare. With so many f2p games out and many games going f2p soon i think it will clear out the kids, a good amount of them any way

GW1, surprisingly, had an excellent community... since most of it was instanced, so you only partied with like-minded ppl. GW2 should have the same aspect, since theres a lack of competition. A community goes sour as soon as you introduce the back-stabbing nature of humanity into it. Regardless of age, if everyone can have fun with each other, everything's golden.

It's safe to say that we will have all sorts of players, ranging from kids to old people (sorry if I touched any buttons) with the majority likely being teens like the majority of games.

I think what most people are afraid of, and they have a good right to be, is the WoW fanboyism that has plagued every MMO to date that I can think of. You get your kiddies in the starting zones expressing their dissatisfaction with the game and they have what they believe to be an in depth discussion as to why WoW is superior and why they're logging off. That, I don't really have a problem with those people will be gone soon enough.

Personally, what I have a problem with is the "Arena mentality" that plagued WoW. Arena introduced a cut throat ladder system (especially s3 with requiring specific ratings for items). Which resulted in a lot of people being douchebags, kiddie like & win trading.

I just don't want to see Guild Wars 2 go down this route of elitism because of Arenas.

Hoping to find a friendly and mature community to game with. So long as people follow these two basics rules then I think all will be good.

We're (VexXGaming) are really hoping for a large group of serious e-sport teams and competitive groups. The PvP environment seem a perfect fit. The game itself seems to cater to team work regardless of if you are grouped or not. Hopefully that too creates more of a community feel.

When they posted on their blog about community, it seemed like they were taking it very seriously. It's hard to say, but it seemed to be implying that on official sites and in game if someone is ...not being conducive to a friendly community, then there would be some sort of repercussions. What do you guys think? Does it seem like Arena Net will take an active role in moderating the community, or was that just my wishful thinking?

There's only so much you can moderate.
Asshatery is something you can't avoid and I think it would be unfair to assume ANet will be able to curb that sort of behavior. I prefer they focus their moderation on bots and farmers. Trolls and MMO's go hand in hand nowadays, it's something we all just need to deal with. Thankfully I've got a great group of guys I play with; it seems to help curb the whole a-hole experience in-game.

i like how you see it, i think of it pretty much the exact same. Trolls + MMO's is something that can't be stopped and i certainly wouldn't want the mods to focus on that instead of something more serious

The problem isn't the games, it's the new generation of gamers. Gaming is now considered somewhat an acceptable activity by mainstream society, it's now a fad. The only deterrent now seems to be the difficulty of a game.

Yea.. that is true I guess to a degree, nowadays being a "troll" on the internet ( online in general including games ) is a lot more popular.

I think we're going to see a lot of mixture. However, I think the successful guilds will be very selective in their recruiting. They'll become known quickly in the game.

Serious guilds are always selective when recruiting so without a doubt if you join a serious guild you'll be surrounded by similar people which is good.
