Which MMO do you feel has the best community and why?

I feel like Guild Wars 1 was that game for me. It was built in a way that you needed teamwork and synergy which got people talking to each other and asking for help, and you could instantly go anywhere which made finding people a breeze. I've heard good things about WoW before dungeon finding came along as well.

Warcraft had a decent community when I played, a long time ago. Sure there were tons of horrid people on there, but if you were in a good guild that made things better.

For me, LOTRO had the best community ever, and I'll never forget it. I played on the Landroval server for a long time, and met a lot of good people. Dungeon groups were amazing, and I think part of that was because there was no dungeon finder tool. This left players to interact more and form groups on their own. The server also was the unofficial RP server, so a ton of events were made by players bringing people even closer together.

I actually found LoTRO to have a terrible community, but maybe that was just the server I played on (Imladris). The people seemed really stuck up and local chat was just full of spam about how it was so much better than WoW. It wasn't a RPing server but everyone seemed to RP which kind of annoyed me. I had a character named GagasLittleMonster and someone reported me and I ended up with some lame generic random generated name.

Sorry you had a bad experience Rocketman, that sucks. A lot of people RP, that is true. Especially if you're anywhere near Bree. It's a much different environment from WOW, and players can get defensive and passionate about their gaming experience.

Final Fantasy XI has such nice people and I've rarely encountered a mean spirited person almost everybody is out to help and be help it's pretty awesome.

Warcraft had a very loyal community. Runescape just had a huge one. I remember everyone from my school having a friggin runescape account. I wouldn't say many of them really actually played the game, but they would hang out. So yeah, the community was huge on that game (back in the earlier days) but not so much a loyal, dedicated community like WoW had.

Entropia Universe has a GREAT community. I think it's mainly because the game is really really hard!! Impatient children will quit after a day or two, so you are generally left with good people.

Wow has/had a great community but it was often full of idiots who owned the guilds. Guild wars is small in comparison but people are nicer. I wouldn't really say Runescape has a community as such.

I think I've had a better experience with Guild Wars when it comes to the community. WOW has a pretty great community, but I feel like Guild Wars had nicer and more personable people.

MapleStory back in beta, when there were only 4 classes, had a decent community. The grind was pretty ridiculous back then so everyone was making parties and competing to enter the only instance in the game. Mind you, the demographic playing this game was mostly preteens and teens at the time.

I wasn't involved in the community with Guild Wars enough to say, but the people seemed friendly and helpful enough, and the teamwork was often excellent. When it comes to WoW, it was as full of helpful and nice people as it was filled with idiots and elitist kids. The elitism is rampant in pretty much every MMO, but in WoW, Especially in PvP it was very annoying at times.

I've found WoW to have an overall good community but it really depends on the server you play on and how high it's population is.

I've made some friends in Guild Wars 2 in the short time I played it, so I would say that is a good game for the community aspect as well.

Most MMOs pretty much have no community because they keep the social interface too out of the way or hard to use. Then you just have a ton of people running around ignoring each other as they grind mobs and quests. Boooooooring. I like social elements in my gaming.

In my personal experience the people who play World of Warcraft are usually pretty friendly and helpful, of course there's always exceptions but that's normal.

I can be very antisocial during MMOs. I try to focus on playing. I have my own ways of keeping myself entertained. I've played a few with bad communities, therefore I've never been encouraged to socialize online.

You should play Final Fantasy XIV and join Behemoth server. People there have the same attitude as yours. Apparently, gaming is serious business for them. All they care about is leveling up and getting rich, they don't have time for socializing or help newbies. (-_-)

WoW and Rift both have the friendliest communities of MMOs that I have played. Yes, there are dicks, but they are in every game that play nowadays lol.

Kind of depends where you are. If you're on a high pop server in WoW, you can find a solid community just for you. As with anything, there are going to be dicks and trolls, but there's almost always a place for everyone.

I never really noticed much of a community in RS. That was more of a game that I just played with RL friends.

This is a very very very subjective question. "Best community" depends on a person's perception of what "best" feels to them. It also is dependent on a chaotic random chain of events that lead up to the moments where you see things in chat, or in guild runs, or people responding at the forums. Sometimes it feels like everything sucks. Then at other times, it feels like things are looking good.

There is no such thing as "THE BEST", as it will always depend on the individual and the random events that affect the judgment of that individual.

I thought Runescape had a pretty decent community, considering how large it was. Yeah there were people that would try to cheat/rob you, but it was also really easy to find great groups of people to just hang out with. People were pretty open in that game.
