What's the best combat system you'have ever seen in a MMO?

Hi guys, what's the best combat system you'have ever seen in a MMO? In my opinion one of the best I've been playing at is the one of the TERA. The fact that it isn't target based it makes it really unique and it requires even a certain amount of skill in order to play it in a good manner. What about you?

Yeah, Tera has my favorite combat system ever. I really liked Vindictus too, I guess they're both 'open' enough and give you freedom to do what you want to do, and not just click on something with targeted skills and kill it slowly.

I am the opposite, I don´t like twitch or games where you press your spacebar every second to make yourself jump because that gives you an advantage. Those types of games also bring lag into the picture, which means to get best peformance you turn down all your graphics.

True story. In Ultima Online, your internet connecton determines your movement speed. It is possible to run circles around other players if they don´t have good internet access. When UO was in it´s hayday, about half of the players were still using dial-up access.. it was crazy pvping.. you simply could not do it if you were on dialup. The other player could run back and forth and you would never hit him

That's a good question. I don't mind Tera's combat system, but it's definitely not my favorite.

I really like Dragon Nest's approach but Tera is also a good example for a good combat system.

Like a few people have said, TERA has a pretty decent combat system but I find that 9 times out of 10 it boils down to hitting spacebar when your combos pop up. It's not quite as exciting as I had been led to believe, though I do think they do free-to-play better than, say, SWTOR.

I really like games that implement none-targeting and slow paced combat systems because the outcome depends on your personal skills rather than your avatar’s skills and perks’, moreover the absence of Asian fireworks and splashed is preferable because it could spoil your focus and concentration on what’s happening on the battlefield, therefore Tera is acceptable for me but I thing taking the facts above into consideration Gloria Victis might be better choice.

I prefer TERA's system, it wasn't too fast but allowed for some good mobility. It also felt a lot more "weighty" as if your attacks actually felt more real than other typical MMO combat systems.
