I haven't played Rift yet and I haven't really heard anything from it yet. I don't want to spend money on something that is not worth the money. What's the good and bad of Rift?

You actually dont have to spend any money on it anymore. Rift went F2P so you can check it out at anytime you want. I'd say it's worth giving it a shot to see if it's your cup of tea.

If you don't know anything about the game then you shouldn't even be thinking about it. Especially, if money is a issue for you currently. You shouldn't spend it on something that you think you may end up hating.

If you don't know to much about a game I would research the game a little watch some gameplay videos, read a wide variety of reviews just because what people like and dislike are sometimes different that way you won't waste your time or money on a game you may not even like.

Is it worth paying for? I've heard that it's basically a WoW clone. That's why I much prefer LOTRO. They implemented SO many features that make it unique and different from other MMOs.

This is a tough one. I had the chance to play through the beginnings of Rift and found it to be a good aesthetic break from neutered panda-land. The gameplay so far seems pretty standard MMO-fare, nothing fancy but not much of a disappointment. I heard the way you craft your class is kind of unique but I never had the chance to learn for myself.

RIFT is a solid WoW clone. In terms of actual gameplay and mechanics, it is excellent. Where it falls apart is that it's really obvious that it's a WoW clone. I'm not really sure how to put it but it kind of lacks soul. It feels generic, the world doesn't feel like a world that you want to learn more about, and you don't really feel attached to your character. In terms of gameplay and design though, it's top of its class.

Downloaded it and I must say that I love it. It reminds me of classic WoW in SO many ways. It's basically a WoW clone back when WoW was at it's peak - which i have no problem with lol.

Rift is pretty much just a solid alternative to WoW. I suppose some people would say that it is also a solid improvement on WoW. Graphics/scenery seem improved in Rift, and a lot of people enjoy the PvP aspect alot more. If you've gotten bored of WoW or are looking for an alternative then this is a definite option.

In comparison to WoW, Rift is superior in my opinion. First of it looks nicer and plays a fair bit smoother. It is Free to play and dumping money into Rift doesn't give you that much of an edge on your free to play peers.

The good: Rift is easy to get started into. If you have tried WoW or Lotro, the interface is similar enough that it is automatic.

THE good and the bad: It is a WoW clone. It has an advantage over WoW in that it isn't attempting to build on such an old foundation - hence the better look referred to above. It has the disadvantage that a person who was getting tired in WoW isn't going to find it different enough. You are still doing quests, crafting, and leveling.
