What's the longest time you had been addicted to a MMORPG?

For me, Lineage 2 was the first MMORPG I had played. It is also the MMORPG I have spent most time on. I was completely addicted to it for almost a year and half. Although I had to admit it was a pain in the back for grinding/leveling up/getting gears, the most fun part was PvP and it had kept me going.

What made Lineage 2 different from other MMORPG is the castle siege and open PvP. You can be attacked anywhere outside towns by any players... although the attacker would suffer consequences. I loved the weekend castle siege most. It happened so you could have hundreds or even thousands of players fighting in well organized groups at one castle. Imagine 500 players try to get in and take over a castle from another group of 500 players. Yep, that's the type of PvP we had in Lineage 2.

A year and half later, I was finally bored due to more and more original gaming friends had quit.

So what's the MMORPG had you addicted to it the longest? How long was it?

My two longest played MMOs are probably the first Guild Wars (3 years and 4000 hours) and Runescape. I led a guild in Guild Wars and the community aspects really hooked me in. Runescape was just addictive in how I could make money and grind.

World Of Warcraft. Been playing since release. Not continuous but on and off. Still, an insane amount of time and money has been invested by me.

I played world of warcraft for maybe a year. Almost every single day, atleast one hour.

I can't say that I was ever addicted to a MMORPG. I have obviously played quite a few and I did sink a couple hours per day on Age of Conan when it first came out.

World of Warcraft without a doubt. I've been playing since the alpha phase and I've been waiting for it's release for few years before the alpha lol. I did stop every now and then though due to different reasons, but it's the only MMORPG which I've taken to heart. I've played a lot of others as well, but not a single one has managed to keep my interest for more then 2 months apart from WOW.

I've been playing Mabinogi for quite a few years now. I've been on and off though, but I never really stopped playing the game. I love it. I feel that I can do anything in the game.

I've played many games for months, or even years, and even though I've spent plenty of time on them, none of my experiences have managed to fit the description "addicted", although the MMO which has taken the most of my time by far is WoW, which I've played for years, but I never truly considered myself addicted, because I would sometime take months of break, without problems, although I've spent hours upon hours daily. I've found it that people who get addicted to games are simply people with addictive personalities, and if it wasn't the MMO, it would be something else, which could even be worse, like gambling or alcohol. This is why the occasional rants about addictive games are stupid.

I started playing World of Warcraft when I was 13. I got hooked pretty fast and played all day, all summer and most of the next school year. Around the time I started to lose interest in WoW, I was moving from an apartment to a house and dropped my laptop while unpacking. The screen shattered and I didn't have any money to replace it.

So for financial reasons I stopped playing WoW, which was probably a very fortunate thing to happen. I wasn't being productive with school or much else. Only until I quit did I begin to notice this. Video games can be addicting, like cigarettes or gambling. But people with addictive personalities make it a real problem.

WoW. Played from released until 2011. I lost a lot of things very important to me during this time. It was a very bad situation.

Most people here would say, World of Warcraft, as one of the longest running and definitely one of the most popular MMORPGs in the world, and I'd say that too. So about 10 or so years...

World of Warcraft for sure. I played it for 6 or 7 years like crazy. Now, when I look back, I can't believe how much time I've wasted playing that game.

As those before me... World of Warcraft! First MMO, started at the age of 13 and played non stop for 2 years. I think you can say I averaged 4+ hours per day of gameplay time in those 2 years. Dont regret a minute of it too :)

I was addicted to Runescape between 2001 and 2007. I was in a few high end clans during that time but I finally gave it up so I can focus on getting good grades.

For me it has been around 1 and a half years since I started playing GW2 and I'm still playing. The WvW in that game is just fantastic. There are obviously problems and over time I've started to get a bit bored because they haven't updated enough. I never would have thought I'd put so much time into a game though.

The longest time I've stick around in an MMO is 4 years. I played Rising Force online since 2008 and just stopped playing in 2012 because the game was basically forgotten (actually, more like abandoned) by the publisher as it has no content update for an entire year and hackers are basically taking over the place with little efforts from the GMs to enforce the rules, so our entire guild decided to move to another game, which is Dragon Nest. We are still playing this game, so it could be a runner up for the longest time we have stick around in an MMO. :D

WoW 6 years now, but I do go through little phases of taking a few months off when I get really bored. The trouble is that no game really comes close to the graphics and the community aspect, not to mention the content.

I have heard good thing about diablo, but I just don't like the look of the graphics much. Plus I don't have time to get submerged into another MMORPG.

Runescape claimed easily 50 days of play time. WoW claimed probably about 45 days of play time. And probably about 30 days time developing private servers, not even playing. Talk about the needle...
    Lol
