What's your favorite material?

I find myself building out of solid stone and stone steps a lot because the smoothness appeals to me as a building material. I use wood to accentuate and to build structures that are supposed to seem cozy, but most of my outer architecture is stone and metals. Glass is also very valuable for biodomes and other similar structures.

    What do you like?

This might seem obvious, but my favorite material is diamond. Not necessarily for building, but for creating tools, weapons, and armor. Forging is one of my favorite parts of a lot games so I definitely enjoy finding rare materials for crafting.

I can appreciate that. Finding the first diamonds in a fresh world always seemed like such a huge accomplishment, and 99% of the time the first thing I would create would be a diamond pickaxe. Being able to get your nether portal online was a big deal, and carving through entire cave systems without a second thought certainly has its uses.

I try to stick to using bricks whenever I build anything. Seems like a logical thing to use seeing that bricks are used in real world too. For crafting and stuff, I use whatever can be used for crafting like ingots and stuff.

I think I agree with you when it comes to building materials. Smooth stone and wood always works to great effect for a large variety of structures. I find a combination of the two can be used to create almost anything and will always end with an aesthetically pleasing product.

My favorite material is probably wood. You can make sticks out of it and craft different things. There are really a lot of things to craft out of wood. I can also build with wood. I find it very useful in all ways possible. I like other materials, too.

I like bright white items for patterned walls and floors, but the primary block I use for building are Birch and Oak planks, followed by Cobble foundation walls. Smooth stone is nice, but only as external walls that surround a keep or village.

I'm a sucker for the different types of stone: stone bricks, stone stairs, and cobble. I use them in various combinations to accent and contrast each other. As you can probably tell I build a lot of castles.

Totally wood. It can be used to craft the basic things I need and it also looks very good when you build with it, at least in my own eyes. I like farming wood and then decorating walls with it, things like that.

Wood is a good pick. I agree that it is incredibly versatile, especially given that there are 3 different varieties, those varieties can be made into different colored planks, and the trees themselves look very stylistic and interesting.

I quite like emeralds. I like how different they are to other ores. They're also relatively useful and you can really get yourself some good deals with villagers. I also like how they only spawn in a very specific biome, it differentiates emeralds other things.

I have always been drawn to modern architecture so most of the things I build are smooth lines and huge windows. I prefer to use quartz, glass, and wood. Stone I usually reserve for paths, accents, fireplaces, and concrete looking areas. My favorite is stone bricks though.

My personal favorite material to build with is definitely smooth stone or birch wood.

Thanks to you and other Minecrafters that build castles. I've tried, but they just come out looking terrible. I love to explore the really cool designs that people have created. I agree that the combinations of stone can really show off some cool designs.

Wood, or Stone. I feel like I could build everything I could want with wood or stone. It really does help to be able to build everything out of just wood and stone. I mean just this alone can build near enough everything interesting with wood and stone.

Iron. It's way better than the very rare gold, but it's not so good as the very rare diamond. Yup, both of them are very rare, other than iron. Iron is not so rare, so you get a very good material in a short time, that's what I like about it.

Iron is another interesting pick. I'm not huge on iron buildings, but it is a neat material for highlighting details on a building or adding trim to something. The high quality of tools you can derive from it is also another point in its favor.

Stone for sure - I build buildings and castles and all sorts. I rarely use any other material during the building process. Although once I'm done i add details with different materials.

Wood. Its (in my opinion) probably the most versatile object in the game. Wood can be used as a building material , in a furnace and it has countless other uses. It's also a benefit that it doesn't take very long to chop down.

I like to build out of an assortment of bricks, stone, cobblestone and glass. I always go for that city look for a modern idea.
