Like everyone else, I start by punching trees. I try to build myself a small home with a door, chest, and crafting table. I then like to get some cobblestone for furnaces and coal for torches. From there, I start to stockpile and cook food. After that I'm free to roam and expand. Anything else I can do differently?

For a moment after I read the title I was trying to think of my very first time getting on Minecraft. First, my friend invited me to a multiplayer server and showed me around a bit. I didn't really like it though. Then I started playing single-player and another friend would explain bits of the game to me, I don't remember much else though. But anyways, that isn't the point of this thread.

You mean what I do at the start of every new world? You pretty much said it. Punch trees, build a shelter with basic necessities, and then get food. More specifically I tend to make an underground wheat farm at the side of my mine and I always make an infinite water pool. (4 squares of water so when I use a bucket on 1 of the squares I get water and it refills. Very useful for the wheat farm.) Then after that it just depends on my imagination.

Lol that's exactly what I thought too, I proceeded to have a long train of memories from way back when. . . Anyways when I start a world I pretty much gather the basics (trees/tools/torches/food etc), I then try and find a village to take over because its free and its an easy shelter. Then I go straight to the underlayer and find diamond for tools/armor. That pretty much my first days.

Same as you, I was punching every tree and dirt I see and I was just stacking them to form some sort of weird excuse for a house. I was really baffled at first because I got the game with no manuals whatsoever so I had to go play blind through the whole game and alas when I figured out how to craft things I was so happy.

Just as you do I start punching trees to get some wood. If I'm lucky I find a village and I "borrow" the contents of their chests and all of their crops. Normally I build a small and terrible house just so I have some shelter and so I can get iron tools.

After being lost underground for probably hours I'll get back to my small shack with an inventory full of iron, coal, and hopefully some diamonds.

Generally I'll find a nice looking location and set up some sort of minecart hub with carts going down into my mines. Even though the minecarts are generally inefficient I really like having them since they're somewhat useful and it looks really cool when you have a system with redstone going. But I digress...

I think your start is pretty solid.

The first few days were very confusing to me. I had to look at a guide just to figure out how to make the basic tools and the different combinations for each thing you use to make stuff. I think I died a lot as well because I didn't really know about mobs and the fact they all come out at night. I turned a corner and there was three zombies coming at me and biting me. Now I know almost everything and can do just about anything.

Slay trees, build shelter, and dig! I'm pretty panicky especially if I'm playing on hard. I freak out thinking I'm going to die instantly. I really hate landing in a spot where coal is hard to find. it makes the tasks a PITA.

As soon as I start a new world, I immediately get to work on my house as well. I usually start with simple dirt since it's quicker to collect than wood. After I get a basic dirt house, then I start on the trees. I build myself a crafting table and make simple wooden tools. I continue to make tools and gather more wood until night falls.

When it is night time, I go inside my house and start digging down. I make stairways in the ground that go underneath the house. I search for coal first. I like to make stacks of torches for myself - they're very useful. After I find coal within the stone walls, I make myself a stone oven. I also make the torches and stone tools now. Until morning, I'm working away with my new tools and finding as much material as I can.

In my first day I find a good spot close to the spawn thats flat has grass has trees and that I like the look and feel of and then I dig down and make a little 5x5x3 hole in the ground, from there I get a couple of trees and I setup my crafting bench and some chests and I make some basic tools, then I grab a couple more trees with my new axe and get some stone with my pickaxe, grabbing seeds for wheat while Im walking in between, once I have my furnace up and a full compliment of stone tools and a stone sword then I take some materials and plan out my foundation (dirt is good for planning but I usually have a plan in mind so I tend to go ahead and cook the cobble into stone and lay a foundation with that). Once my foundation is in I decide where I want my field to go and I cut out my field with the hoe and I plant as many seeds as I've been able to find, if your quick then you should have time to do this and also make a quick circle around the area to find a couple of pigs or cows so you can cook a couple of pieces of meat for your first night as well as being able to use logs to make some torches so that you can light the area around your home, I tend to put up 20-30 torches on my first couple of nights so that I can build in peace once I get ready to.

My second day is ussually spent mining, I dig a 2 wide staircase down to level 15 and strip mine as efficiently as possible making sure to explore and seal any caverns I find, and day three is typically spent putting walls and a roof and door on my home and making things look nice, from there its all up to you.

I've been playing Minecraft for so long...I can't stand starting at the entry level tree.

My friend took that same feeling when he made a new toon called "Treepuncher". Hah!

As an adult gamer, I'm lucky enough to have the $4.99 a month for a basic server running Feed the Beast: Monster, that I share with my friends. I'm more interested in building and creating than I am in the survival aspect day to day. I love building giant castles, rollarcoasters, oh come on you name it: it's probably possible in Minecraft! So if that's the case, I usually start off in Creative+ mode, building Myst worlds and giving myself the best Modular Power Suit armor right away. Life's too short to walk/move slow. Jetpack away and glide on for me!

I just tried learning the buttons and learning what I could make out of materials I collected. Then I try to collect what I need for light in the dark when you're digging, and I try to find natural shelter that I can roam around in when I'm bored.

In my first few days of Minecraft, around 3 years or so, I was completely fascinated with the game. I enjoyed the adventures Minecraft had to offer. I still remember building my first dirt house. Good times :)

First off, I try to collect some wood but if I'm not near any trees, I basically just look for the nearest hill where I can dig myself a hole to survive the night, but before that comes, I go looking for some chickens or cows. Sometimes I get lucky and come across a village where I can "borrow" some of their unneeded items :p ha.

It was horrible. I spent most of the day finding out how to punch wood, then I somehow managed to make a bed from all the wool I gathered. I then managed to construct a small dirt house, which eventually was blown up by a creeper.

Most people talk about their first day in minecraft being a memorable experience, which is true for me too. I was feeling fear and anticipation for what is to come, since I had no idea what would happen next, sometimes wonder too. But as time passed everything got oversimplified, mobs got easier to deal with, getting new material was easier, and taking shelter was no longer a problem. It was going to happen at one point, but minecraft is still fun for me.

Loneliness hit me real hard on my first few days in this game because i played the single player mode (we had a bit of an issue with the internet connection that time). My friend insisted i play the game because he said it's super good and so i did yet we can't play it together during the first few days. I was genuinely curious about the game and i was having so much fun crafting, building things and chopping off trees that i dared play it offline. It's still enjoyable to play it solo because i was still new and there were still so many things to discover so that's fine with me. However at some point in the game, i started feeling lonely because of lack of human interaction and the soundtrack didn't help either. The soundtracks sound really sad and so good at the same time. Also after seeing nothing but trees, ocean and more trees i started to feel bored of the game. Good thing i was able to go on multiplayer mode days later. ;)

My first few days playing minecraft were probably much similar though I can't really remember. Yes it was such a long time ago and I can hardly remember.

In my first few days of Minecraft, I was absolutely terrified of the night, and always made sure to make a hole for me to stay in at night. I also spent most of my time on the wiki finding out how to craft things, because I had no idea about anything. For weeks after I started Minecraft, I never set food past dusk, if i was stuck in the middle of nowhere, I just dug a small hole and waited out the night.

Played alot of creative so my first few days were spent making a large Victorian mansion with a huge entrance. It was neat.
