Which champion do you think is the "best" or most useful support champion right now? I'm just wondering. I've been on a several month League of Legends hiatus, but am thinking of coming back. I'm not exactly up to date with all the new revamps and such. But, my favorite role to play was support. Thresh and Lulu were my favorites. They were quite fun to play.

Haven't played LoL too much lately, but I'm sure Thresh is still at the top. I personally feel like Braum is a good shout for a beefy support, Lulu seems weak in comparison with the main supports.

Tahm Kench is a common ban. Really high base damage, and he can set up some really crazy ganks too (eat their jungler then spit him out on your ADC).

Shaco would have to be my pick. He's not gonna feed your lane for sure, and if he's good he can set up some really nice plays. It's gotta be annoying for them not being able to hit you with their skill shots, let alone even try to kill you. Love Shaco with a passion!

Man I don't care is he's the best but thrash is just so fun to play... When i go support I don't even have to think, it's always the same pick. He's super strong and fun to play

It really depends on your play style. Are you looking to stay back and be a true "supportive" type? If so then Soraka, Janna, and Nami are at the top of the list in descending order. If you want to be a beefy peeler with high Crowd Control then Tahm Kench, Braum, and Leona are at the top the list. If you're looking to be a playmaker and start engages then Blitz and Thresh are high priority picks.

Tahm Kench is the king of everything. On his release it was so funny to play him as a top laner or a jungler because nobody ever knew what to expect. His damage is huge with the ultimate passive and W and the tankiness is off the hook. Easily my favorite champion in League, next to Tryndamere.

As with many games of this sort, I feel that some areas of Lol are a bit hostile to new players. However, you just have to get used to it I guess. The social element of games like these can be good but also have their drawbacks.

For intermediate and expert players, It's going to depend on your bot lane composition, really. I mean, if you have an ADC that doesn't have much escape, for instance, then you might want to roll a Jaina instead of a Thresh. On the flip side, if the adc is super aggro, then a pick like Thresh makes much more sense.

In terms of ease of playing, however, the choices become more clear cut. For newer players, the "best" support champion is going to be a champion without skillshots, and with skills that are mainly fire and forget. So, champs like, off the top of my head: Soraka, Taric, Morgana, Nunu.

Best support is really subjective and definitely depends on your ADC and the opposing lane matchup. For example, Cait/Janna have good synergy. They're both strong, annoying, and passive champs that hang on until the late game. But they'd get demolished by a good Blitzcrank or Annie lane, despite the fact that Janna is objectively stronger than both right now.

The reason why Janna is picked more than Blitzcrank or Annie is due to both ease of play and the current metagame trends. It's all situational.

I really like to play Soraka as support her heals are amazing. I can keep my ADC in lane almost indefinitely. also her star call does enough damage early game to harass the enemy ADC and keep them off the minions. Sometimes If i'm playing with and ADC who I know to be strong I will run and Ammumu support. he is not that strong until level 6, but his ult pretty much guarantees a double kill at level 6. Then he has a lot of initiate in team fights. The most difficult bit of Ammumu support is not taking the ADC's kills. He does enough damage on his own that it is a risk.
