A pretty pointless question but still a question. In the first Metro game the shotgun bullets were red but in Metro Last Light they are blue, anyone know why they changed the colour?

Well, they're metro made.. maybe blue plastic was just more readily accessible when the shells were made.

Because 2033 was produced by THQ, who everyone knows are hardcore communists. And what's communism's color? Red! See red producer, red shotgun shells to try to brainwash everybody who plays 2033 into becomeing a communist!!!

Now Last Light is produced by Deep Silver, a huge American Capitalist cooperation, and what are the colors of the American Flag??? Red, White, and BLUE. So in order to counteract the red propoganda from the first game Deep Silver chose one of the colors of American freedom for the shotgun shells.

    God Bless America!!!

I hope you are kidding ^^. By the way Deep Silver is owned by Koch, which is a German company.

Lol yeah I was watching South Park when I saw this post and started thinking, 'What would Cartman say?' :) Just came up with stuff off the top of my head, so yeah there's probably some wrong info there :p

Lebbers answer would be the best one so far. I was also a little puzzled over why they were suddenly blue. At first when I saw them, I thought "Oh, blue shotgun shells, they must be some special kind of shells!" but later discovered that they were normal and there were no red ones.

Well, some places in the world contains cobalt (The color blue)in the rock. Perhaps they have access to mining cobalt somewhere in the metro?

In real life the shells are usually colored different according to which company made them.. but in Metro Lebbers answer gives most sense I guess.:)

Well, blue is a color that is harder to make than most color, why it was connected (or is) with royality. This might not have anything to do with creating the color of the bullet shell, but perhaps there is some kind of storage where people get all their bullets, so now they are going through a certain type of bullets created at a certain point in time? I dont know :D

I'm sure there was some aesthetic reason behind it, but I can't for the life of me figure it out.

You guys are way overthinking this. Blue is easier to see in low-light condidtions than red.

As one of the traders said to me today "ignore the colour of the cartridges, these still put holes in things"

It's called investigating and unraveling the truth! :D
But yeah, although there could be plenty of lore-friendly suspicions for the color-change, I think that the actual reason is just because 4A discovered that blue shells are easier to see. :p
