I had this question? Why? For me its mostly about the eerie atmosphere that you encounter when playing through a setting where everything is destroyed. Gives you that interesting feeling and makes gameplay all that much funner

Well, here's an analysis from a developer's point of view (which I read somewhere):

"The post-Apocalyptic setting gives the player a realistic, believable environment where anything is possible. The freedom to behave in the way they would, to see a familiar world in an entirely different way, and to deal with a realistic disaster all appeal to most gamers."

I think this makes sense. I like the moral choices available, as it lets us deal with problems in the way we would in reality. If someone is terrorizing a small settlement or group, would you protect them? Where does your duty lie? It makes the game quite personal, at least to me.

For me it's that out of place feeling. Standing in the middle of an empty street without a sound to be heard picking up the prices of humanity and trying to survive in a new dangerous world.

I allways feel happy standing in a quiet abandoned town or building, makes me feel at home

You've been the slave of paradise, yet now this paradise has become nothing, and you're the king of it. Whether you are one of the few, or the only one, that survived the catastrophe, you can rule over almost all you want. You're proud of being a survivor compared to the masses who died.
That is what you want to think, but the fact is that it's a miserable and usually lonely life with danger, boredness, thirst and starvation, cold and heat and the list goes on. Beside this, I have to agree with every other comment in this thread :D

I'm in it for the survival aspect as well. I also think it's interesting to see how humanity would behave after surviving an apocalypse: would they unite and start over for a better world, or will they fuck it all up again by not getting rid of religion, a monetary system and politics?

  9. My everyday life + interesting plot + interesting gameplay = reason enough.

I really don't consider myself a post-apocalypse-game fanatic. But I liked the world Metro imposed to us, because I thought mankind got what they deserved! :D

Who are we without society and its rules and masks?
Is really an important Manager better than a worker like many others in a state of non-law?
How much does our ancestral brain lead our actions in such a state of danger?
I play Metro and other games not to answer these questions, but to understand them better :p.
