Will it be a sandbox style game?

I can't find any info on the question, but I'm curious if we'll be free to roam the empire, or will we have to be contempt with moving from one mission to another?

I imagine it will be. Hardware should not be a limiting factor and they had plenty of time to develop the game world, so I see no reason to not let the player walk around and explore.

My complaint about "open world" non sandbox games is that you spend a lot of time just exploring and by that time I'm bored with the game itself.

Maybe it's just me, but instead of putting all that time and resources into letting a player explore, I would rather the game developer put the money/time into game play.

I'd enjoy it for one. I think there's a good middle ground to be had, if there's easy access to the story line missions and the player is not forced to explore vast expanses of land every time he has another mission or objective to complete.

I'm with wooblu, I'd rather have a solid mission based game than one where I just run around from on place to another having to explore an hour for every ten minutes of gaming that expands the story.

The sandbox structure is getting a little played out. I really hope Ryse doesn't go this route. It seems developers feel compelled to have this format in their games so a lot of times it gets shoehorned in to titles where it's really not necessary.
I don't think it should be completely linear. But please not completely open world like GTA. Maybe something more like Marvel Ultimate Alliance would be nice.

I enjoy playing sandbox games so I hope it has some sandbox elements to it but like StevenS said they shouldn't play the sandbox route too much because it won't seem as original. I also have trouble sometimes when it's too much open world and little direction. I like directions in my game so I know what exactly I'm supposed to be doing.

From looking at gameplay, it looks as it could be sandbox but limited at the same time so it's a kind of "half sandbox game". There may be multiple routes to a certain place or objective, but you don't get a say in what mission you do. I'd be happy with any system really, but would prefer it if it were mission based.

I agree, I often get lost easy in sandbox games and always rely on the maps. I hope if it is sandbox that they at least have clear directions on where to go, but from I see it looks more mission based where you follow one particular path and do one mission at a time.
