I'm surprised nobody posted about this so far, but here it is! As announced last week during the Gamescom conference, the next expansion pack for World of Warcraft will be called "World of Warcraft: Legion"!

It will focus on Gul'Dan reviving Illidan and the Burning Legion returning to Azeroth. There will be a new Hero Class, Demon Hunter, which will only be playable with Elf races. The new continent will be the Broken Isles.

What is your opinion on this reveal?

I just saw this when I opened up Battle.net today and I'm pretty hyped about this. The expansion is probably going to be really awesome, and the lore seems amazing so far.

I will wait to see what they do with the rest of WoD and the price of Legion. I do not like what they are doing with expansions now. Basically they removed a raid patch from WoD, and instead will release Legion faster, which means we now have to pay for the raid tier that used to be included .

I think the Demon Hunter is a bit of pandering... it will have 2 specs, tank and dps, but to me there are already too many specs in the game and many of them feel way too similar. The dps spec will be like a rogue and the tank spec will be like brewmaster.

I like it. I don't have anything to complain about regarding the announced expansion, at the very least.

While I'm happy for the new expansion, I can't help but feel that there's something shady going behind the scenes. It's clear to me, that WoD was supposed to tie-in with the movie and when the movie's release got delayed Blizzard simply released whatever they had done, not fulfilling any of the promises, as a cash grab. As for now Legion sounds great and maybe it's going to give devs an opportunity to redeem themselves, but I don't have high hopes.

Funny you said that prabab, You don´t see a lot of people mentioning it, but I thought also that the WoD was fabricated as a way to get players familiar with the original orcs from the RTS games so that they would be more interested in the movie.

Hah I knew that Demon Hunter would be a new class! I'm really interested but at the same time my WoW days are pretty much past me.

The stuff that's been announced and revealed about the expansion all sounds pretty great, but after WoD I still find myself slightly skeptical. I'm also not sure what to think about all the nostalgia pandering they're doing in this expansion, though I can understand why.

He gets Rezzed by Gul´dan. WOW currently has time-travel, alternative universes and Resurrection. Those three things basically make any story meaningless and things can be Retconned whenever Blizzard wants to, without it even being a Retcon. Right now, in the current expansion we are killing people that died a hundred years ago.

This is awkward. Didn't Illidan get his powers by consuming Gul'dan's skull? I'm not following the lore that closely, but does Gul'dan know about this? If yes, then why would he help the dude that literally (mis)treated his remains as a power totem?

I don't know to be honest WoW is basically dying right now and to be honest I don't think this patch will revive it in any way or it will bring content that will increase the subscriptions.

Hmm, not really rezzed. I think that this is an alternate Illidan. The one we knew and loved is dead, isn't he? This one is probably one from an alternate universe, probably Draenor's. Also, it's funny, because when Gul'dan revives Illidan, Illidan holds Gul'dan's skull. This makes for some interesting mindblow.

There's a movie coming out and the people who are responsible for it are very competent and passionate about the project. If it does well (and I'm cautiously optimistic, Warcraft has some great stories) it will probably bring tons of new subscribers to the game. Blizzard is a very slow moving beast, but they know exactly what they're doing. If it weren't for that they wouldn't be as successful as they are.

No, Gul´dan is going to rez the real Illidan. But really, does it matter? the Gul´dan that is going to rez him is the alternetive universe Gul´dan, but he is going to rez him in our universe. Like I said earlier.. caring about fiction, death and the story is silly once you have alternative universes, rezzing and time travel... nothing is sacred, and nothing is permanent.

Ah, I see now. Blizzard really shouldn't have brought in the alternate universe story arc, as it creates a lot of confusion, and they could've improved the already existent universe in so many ways! For example, instead of Legion, they could've made an expansion pack in which Sylvanas finally quits the Horde. It would've been really interesting.

I buy into a sort of conspiracy theory that part of the deal Blizzard made in order to have the movie made is that they would feature those character in the game. The only way Blizzard could put those guys into WOW now would be an alternative universe or time travel. I think the Movie and Expansion were were supposed to go hand-in-hand in order to help market each other... but then the movie got delayed a couple times.

It's too obvious to be called "a conspiracy theory". I don't think Blizzard was forced into it though, they probably just thought it's a good idea. But yup, it's a misfire to say the least.

That seems to be really convenient for Blizzard and I think it is also the reason that WoW will fade into obscurity very soon. There is a limit on how much you can BS people and still expect them to pay you a monthly fee for a messed up main story that nobody understands. Too bad for WoW, because I really liked the game until Warlords came out...
