Worth starting now?

I know WoW is rather old with a ton of content but is it worth starting now?

Sure! There are a lot of deals where you can get the old expansion packs in bundles for cheaper, and that makes it easier. But the great thing about WoW is that it's timeless -- no matter what point you join the game, you'll still have a great time, since they're still updating it. The game is still thriving, and the latest expansion has even old players coming back, so there's no shortage of people playing it. In my opinion, you can definitely have a great time starting now.

Honestly WoW will always be one of the easiest mmorpgs to get into if you're a starter. I remember when i first played WoW i had almost everything down in 1 month. So to answer your question yeah it's worth starting

Right now with the new expansion, you can boost a character to level 90, which will let you catch up with long time players since you'd only have to level to 100 before enjoying end game content. You could also make alts on the side and experience the game in its entirety that way while being able to enjoy the current content with that boost. There's a lot of zones and lore to take in but I'd say that it's worth getting into now more so any other expansion in the past.

Every expansion WOW increases the EXP gain from older zones, so it keeps getting faster to go from 1-60, and even 60-80 is very fast now.
With the new expansion, you get an instant level 90, but to be honest, I would almost tell you to skip that for now and save it for after you level your first character up. If you use it now, you will probably use it on a class you hate and have to level up another class anyway. Better to wait until you knowthe game a bit more until you use the insta-90

The fact that there's so much content makes it that much more of a great game to start playing now. It's more than worth it, and you won't find yourself disappointed or bored or without something to do. It's as simple as that.

Honestly, I would say that it is only worth starting if you have friends to play it with. There is so much to it now that just starting solo it will be confusing.

With friends you will at least be able to work with them to work out how to do things or if they are already playing they can show you the ropes and help you get your feet.

These of course are just my opinions, as someone that started solo but then joined up with friends, it was hard until they were there. Then it became a lot more enjoyable.

I only just started a few weeks ago and initially had the same worry but I was surprised at how quickly you can get into WoW. I'd recommend joining a friend (the referral system is great in that way) so that he/she can show you the ropes and you can get a boost to exp which will level you incredibly fast. You can definitely go it solo though!

It seems rather worth it. There's always some deal or another going on relating to the game and it's updates and the fan base are extremely kind from my experience. It shouldn't be too hard to get into if you want to try it.

Even if you think of it as a single-player game it is a great deal. Almost always you can get it for $10, which includes all of the content from lvl 1-85. This is easily hundreds of hours of content. I´ve paid $50 for games that I beat in 20 hours.

It's never too late to start. This has to be one of the best expansions ever released, so you should join the wagon pretty fast!

You are right considering it being easier. Although saying it's "only" worth playing with friends might differ for him, if it's worth is something I would rather learn by trying more than assuming. If I were to test the trial getting really confused, you are right. The game isn't that confusing now, I would say it has become simpler now, there's a lot of stuff you can ignore that wont affect your game play.
