This is kind of something that I would love to happen, not just some random thought that I had on the spur of the moment. I have always wondered why Minecraft doesn't go to Steam, that could do a lot for the convenience of playing it.

Adding Steam Workshop to Minecraft can be another thing, all you do is hit subscribe, and you have the mods downloaded. If you use Steam a lot, having it with your other games can also make you play it more, because you don't have to specifically go to your desktop or a folder to find Minecraft, it is just right there in front of you.

Would you guys support Minecraft being added on Steam? Be sure to vote in the poll!

No. I will not support minecraft on steam, just because steam has some weird rules about the games that can be on there. I have added minecraft to my steam games list as a non steam game, but I so rarely play other games that I never actually use steam to launch minecraft :p

Yeah, who doesn't want easier mod/workshop access for Minecraft?

I have already brought this game. If it being on Steam means buying it all over again, I am not doing it at all. Otherwise, I am totally supporting it.

Nah, Steam's nothing great, and I prefer the nature of Minecraft outside of Steam. The game is fine how it stands right now, and the modding community is perfect. There's no need to put the game on Steam.

I pretty much wish all steam games weren't on there. Steam can remove games or data as they wish, I have to run it to load a game which is a pain in the ass itself and takes up time/cpu/ram.

I've seen a bunch of games with steam versions and they always end up having more bugs and needing different patches or mod versions and it's just an awful mess.

If you just want easier mod access then maybe there needs to be a place where mods are placed. No need to add to the issue.

Steam is just DRM, but for some reason people don't hate the DRM. It's nice to have one place for everything, but it still seems silly to force people to use steam for every game on there.

As for minecraft, I've already said that I don't think it should be on there, but I did fail to mention that if it ends up moving to steam, everyone that already has the game would have to pay for the entire game again.

I don't think it should be on steam. As the guy said above, Steam is a DRM. Not only would it interfere with Minecraft's policies and DRM, but it would split the community and the modding scene. Sure it might attract more people, and it would be nice if it had Workshop support, but it would be war between Steamers and Launchers. If I'm correct, Notch talked about how they tried, but Steam wouldn't let them develop it like they want, so Steam copies would get slower updates (If at all)

I don't like Steam. I think it should stay a private sale. I wouldn't bother buying it if it wasn't off of the mincraft page.

I don't think it's a good idea for it to be on steam, it's already good how it is and that it might be a little bad idea for it I don't know just got a feeling for it that it shouldn't.

Well if you're saying it in general yeah. If MC was in Steam it would be easier to access and maybe more content can be added.

Steam is great, I don't really understand the hate in this thread.. It's not just "DRM" and they can't just remove a game, if they remove a game from the store YOU KEEP YOUR COPY and can REDOWNLOAD at ANYTIME. It's not like they are holding your games hostage and such.. I'd probably like if they had a steam release. It'd be neat.

When I said that I meant from your account. Which they reserve the right to do at any time for any reason. It happened to my brother, he lost 3 games for no reason. We tried emailing and they told us the TOS said they could :(.

I would absolutely support the game on steam. It would become more popular than it is, which is hard to do.
This game deserves all the recognition it can get, which is why steam is a great idea for this game.
Steam would benefit from it as well, massively.

No need for Minecraft to be on steam. It's fine the way it is.

I just don't like supporting that company when I can give it all to the developer of a game. I also don't like downloading without getting an actual copy if that makes sense. I'm fine with people liking Steam, I just never will.

I wish it was on steam now and that I could launch it from there. Ever since I updated the game to 8.1 or whatever it has not been starting up. It is like it can't find the game when the game is clearly there, it is so annoying.

Now that MS owns Minecraft well. But I think I will support Minecraft on Steam, it's a great platform and I don't see that much problem with it being on Steam, much rather put it there than some place I can mention.
