Wouldn't it be great if ESO implemented player housing at launch?

I admit, one of the first things I try to grind for in the early stages of an Elder Scrolls game is to get a house of my own. It's not just a place for you to safely store items and trophies from your travels, it's also a kind of personal base where you just want to hang out after a grueling campaign.

I think this even becomes even more important for an MMORPG because with all the things happening in an hour of gameplay, you'd just like a place to call your own in a corner of the ESO world. This is actually what I've been doing in The Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO), where, although the housing feature is pretty minimal, it serves the purpose of 'hanging' out the trophies and mementos of my quests and travels. I could spend an hour just /sitting in my house after a tiring day. The fact is, MMOs are not just meant for grinding -- it's a virtual world where you should be able to relax.

What do you think, should player housing be at launch, or does ESO need to focus on other priorities?

They may not make one at launch, but I am sure when the game is out and rolling nicely they will start working on a player housing system available.

Yeah, player housing in a game like this is basically essential. I mean if a game like GTA V Online can do it, surely these guys can get it right.

I think it would be really cool to have that. It might not be released on the opening but maybe in the future (if they decide to).

I'd love to have player housing inthe game, seeing as it's such a focal point for the offline variants I would have thought that this is something that they would have looked into and adressed already.

I've been patiently waiting for housing on another MMO for around ten years now :p

I'd be surprised if it wasn't included.
Then again I never understood the point. I had multiple houses in skyrim... never used them. Have thought of getting a house in Entropia Universe but figured... I'll never be there anyway? For me these houses are just item storages, that's it.

I would love it if it was implemented at launch. Player housing has almost become an MMO standard now. It would be crazy not to include it right away, because it would add more possibilities for RP especially if you were having a house party. :)

Player housing is what MAKES these games, to me. Remember FFXI? I spent a lot of time n my house, organizing. I'd love it to be a little more customizable than Fallout or Skryim. And not just for aesthetics -- I just feel more organized when I have somewhere visual I can keep my own crap in!

well here is the thing. They might just release the game now and then a month later come up with a "player housing DLC" which gives you the possibility of buying and decorating your house. That's what most companies in the industry do nowadays, lets hope this is an exception.

Hopefully they do, although I rather doubt it. It seems that it would be very difficult to implement. With so many players and so little land on one server (I know there's lot's of land but in comparison to the player count... not so much) What if thousands of players all flocked to High Rock where there's not really a lot of potential housing available?

I never really got the appeal of "player houses" and companion characters, especially in Bethesda games. The houses in TES games and FO3 just felt kinda forced, and there was nothing you could really do in them. Especially customization, thanks to that awful "pick up" feature that spazzed out and knocked everything in a ten mile radius over whenever you tried to place down a vase.

If they implemented it properly however, and gave us a feature where you can customize your house's plan and exterior, and have a "proper" way of placing/moving objects around inside, I could see myself enjoying it.
