XBOX 720 Rumoured to be announced CES 2012

    The next generation of home consoles is likely to launch in 2012, with an Xbox 360 successor looking set to be the first out of the door.

    That's according to an Edge source, who told the site that Ubisoft Montreal is currently working with next generation "target boxes based on the intended specifications of Microsoft's Xbox 360 successor".
    Several other major developers, including some EA studios, are also said to be in possession of these units, which are apparently PCs containing off-the-shelf components provided by Microsoft. AMD is believed to be providing the bespoke GPU solution for the console.

    The first iteration of genuine devkits running custom hardware is expected to arrive with studios by the end of the year, with all signs pointing to the console itself launching in late 2012.

    The site also reports that one major Sony-owned studio is now working exclusively on games for PS3's successor.

    Microsoft is rumoured to be planning to make the first official announcements about its next-gen Xbox console at the CES expo in January 2012.

    Hmm, well, they have kinda reached a standpoint in graphics with the 360, but I hope (perhaps foolishly) that they get rid of all (I repeat: all) of the bugs before they release it. We don't want another console filled with overheating, corruption, and weird hardware problems. Also, make it backwards compatible (play 360 games).

    I'll wait for a few years after they release it, just to make sure. :)

    im not getting it. i mean i like to play once in a while but im not gonna spend my money on something that i dont really need :\ although kinda interested on how it will be like

    Yeah, it will be amazing to see what kind of graphics it will have. Seriously, the 360 has gotten pretty good, as has the PS3. It will make games a lot harder to make though, having to make better textures etc. But it will be EPIC! :D

    Just more consoles to hold back the PC gaming master race.

    lol jk. I'm interested in the type of hardware these bad boys will be stacking.

    If Xbox720 is coming up soon, then there will have a chance of new PS version that is better improvement than PS3. I think it might come out in a few years from now. Personally, I am not a fan of Xbox, though.

    Nothing was mentioned at CES as I thought. E3 is where any announcement will be made as it is more gaming oriented.

    Waste of money, may get it if it's compatible with 360 games, and after the 360 I own is gone, or several years after release.

    A new console is most definitely coming, the Xbox and PS3 just can't keep up with improving graphics, etc. Wish I had a PC...

    Thankfully all my mates came to the same agreement
    If they had decided they are going to get it I would have been forced to as well so I could game with them.
