I was thinking since the debate came in a previous thread, about 'Zelda' being an RPG or not, why doesn't develop a 'Zelda' in the classic RPG format. I think it would be a big sell. The games already have a huge following, and by changing the format to a more tradition role playing game I think it would draw in even more players. Thoughts?

The popularity of straight RPGs has been waning for years now, so it wouldn't be a big sell, regardless of how popular the series is. It would need some action elements and something that sets itself apart from other series like Final Fantasy as far as RPGs are concerned.

I agree with troutski as well. I wouldn't want for Zelda to turn into something like a Final Fantasy copy cat. Whatever the format, Zelda would still need some new elements to make it unique from other games using the same format.

It's just an unexplored format though that the Zelda franchise hasn't extended to yet. I think for this series it would be something new to be explored, but you guys may be right.
