Are MMOs too time-consuming?

Well as the saying goes, any time you enjoy wasting is not time wasted at all. While MMOs have the potential to be addicting, they can also be a great form of stress relief. I personally don't see why it is socially acceptable to watch TV all evening but not play online games. Its a bias that mainly stems from the mainstream media that people who play online games are addicts and anti-social. Hopefully those stigmas will be removed one day as more people start to realize the value of playing games.

Well it certainly depends on the person, but I do know from experience that if you get sucked into them they can really take away time from things that you might need to do. I am usually pretty good about not procrastinating, but when I really get into a game I do find it hard to take myself away and do things like clean or homework. More self discipline is needed, but it is possible to have the best of both worlds.

I think they are a bit time consuming. I think it takes too much time to get things done in the game itself. For example in character progression, it can take forever to do a quest just to get some experience, and then that experience gained barely moves the bar, especially at higher levels. You have to spend so much time getting materials for professions, running dungeons to get a particular piece of gear, quest to gain experience, fight to gain tokens for gear, etc. The whole process in general, is time-consuming. I wish it was more simple, but then we wouldn't have a game I guess. If the game was easy, we wouldn't want to play it. If it didn't take that long to get things done, the game would be over and done in no time and cause the developers to have to create new expansions more frequently, which in turn, causes the player to have to spend more money on the game. I guess it just comes with the gaming world in general.
