Atheist. I just don't really care about religion and I'm a guy who lives without bounds so, it's kind of a burden.

In my opinion religion is stupid. Until a God is proven to exist I'm going to be against the idea of religion.

Religion has caused a ridiculous amount of wars and some religious views are just outrageous. It's usually fear based and it has also slowed mans scientific progress by many hundreds of years + limits free thinking. Sexism, racism and many other things are also associated with religion.

On the positive side? It has stopped people doing things just because they can and makes them think twice before doing something 'bad'. Although good and bad are different things to different people.
Nowadays though the law stops people doing things they shouldn't be doing although I personally think that both religion and laws are basically just imprisonment. But we need Laws.

Try and read the thread before posting. I know they're your own views, but your exact sentiments have been posted more than once, if my memory serves me correctly.

Until car mechanics are proven to exist, I'm going to be against the idea of cars. Oh, wait, it is proven!

Of course, a lot of religions are mainly a belief to support themselves in the daily life, like having an imaginary friend, just to have something good to believe in.

But there are still several religions that claim to have proven that there is a god. Yet, you do not believe in this like the way you believe in the evolution for example.

What you said on the negative sides about Religion is true, but you missed out a whole lot of the positive ones. Most people tend to make more notice of negativeness than positiveness, which gives most of the humanity a wrong impression on the most things. Religion is just one of them.

If you asked a scientist who didn't care about his reputation or his "common" sense, he'd most likely say that there is no possibility that there's not an intelligent lifeform that has constructed and designed everything on earth from the smallest plants to the size of the earth and its distance to the sun.

But humanity have made science and religion two opposing things, although it is quite the same actually. Therefor, scientists are doing all they can to prove religion wrong, and make people know that they're always right. The evolution and religion are actually a little similar; Evolution is a theory that is claimed to be true, and so is usually religion as well. Except the fact that historical objects that has been discovered are confirming religion a lot more than it's confirming the evolution. Religion is a huge puzzle and a story, Evolution is a theory that has questionable proofs.

But why would you believe my statement above? Because it's scientific? I could tell you that the sky is purple because the mix of fragments of oxygen from the planet and the aura of the universe just ouside it, but it's blue to the human eye because the heat-rays from the sun disrupt the color-fragments and change them into blue.

Can you personally know if that is true or not?

Or I can say that God made it that way. Could you personally know if that is true or not?

Until you've seen it it's not true - that's your point, right? Or was it VanillaToshi's? Either way, I haven't observed animals for millions of years, so I can't prove evolution. Making it a theory. Right? :eek:hwell:

It's false until it has been proven by rock-solid scientific facts, as is the case in the dissection of the snake. Theory would be stating that a deity is watching over us.

I neutrialized that youtube video with my previous comment, Cerberus :p Quote:

Make that man show me a huge collection of snake-skeletons that one after one gets smaller and smaller legs and longer and longer spine like in the video from 20:58, and I might actually get suspicious about it and dig deeper in it. I have never seen anything like that.

What I have seen, though, is huge ammounts of texts of events in the future. Scientists have proven that this text has been written before the events, and scientists have proven that the mentioned events have actually happened after being written. Yet, 99% of the world's population of scientists look at the bible as a story-book and nothing more, and therefor don't find it worthy of studying and investigating.

(I didn't take my time to watch this whole video) but this guy seems to be pretty scientific. Would you believe his long explanations, the way you believe in evolution by seeing one piece of meat and bones?

Oh,c'mon Skaara...really?

So, the Evolution Theory was wrong only when they still needed the proof, but now that we got the proof that that is a valid theory, magically:"God did so!".

Moreover,we do not "believe" in Evolution just because it is scientifically accepted, but because it's the Theory that goes closer to the truth.
When somebody will make his own reasonable truth,i'll believe him.

Religion does of course have a lot of questionable proofs as well. If not, even more questionable proofs than the Evolution Theory does.
One or a couple limbs in a body isn't proof enough. If you believe in that scientist in that video, you could just as well believe me when I scientifically explain why the sky is actually purple. (But we both know that that is just bullsh#*t).

Evolution Theory has some proofs here and there, and is much more than just a belief, but still not rock hard solid evidence.

Religion has some proofs here and there, and is much more than just a belief, but still not rock hard solid evidence either.

In the end, people will choose the one belief that they personally find as the one that is most true. Some even believe in both. It all comes down to what you've been raised to think, and how you think. If all the greatest religious leaders and the greatest scientists in the world gathered and did official discussions, like in a court, for many years, they would never ever be able to finally conclude who is wrong and who is right. It would be like having a discussion of what tastes best of watermelons and pineapples, what's best between heavy metal and rap.

You haven't neutralized anything with your nonsensical and irrational claims, Skaara. One cannot disprove a negative. And I'm not making that man do anything. You strike me as a young fellow, it is your duty as a human being to educate yourself by entering a museum of natural science, to read and do research and to use that gray matter of yours to connect the factual dots for yourself.

The trouble with those man-made texts is that they prophesize events which, more often that not, are man-made themselves. Usually by the same charlatans who follow the same perverse school of thought as the writers before them. And no, I do not believe in evolution by seeing "one piece of meat and bones". I trust in evolution by having seen hundreds upon thousands of pieces of meat and bones and because it is much more plausible than saying “[enter your preferred deity here] made this.
That being said, a Jew (Hold it, leave the torches and pitchforks in the closet. I don't mean this as a derogatory term but as a constatation that he is clearly religious) being "pretty scientific" with his words doesn't cut it for me.

In addition to your second post:

It is frankly outrageous and embarrassingly uninformed of you to say that science has questionable proof. You are clearly unfamiliar with the concept of science. Science is based on facts and logic, it is humble and in no way reluctant to be proven wrong. If the “proof” is questionable, then it's not proof at all and it will be studied over and over again until scientific consensus has been reached. And because of that, there is only one science and multiple religions as all of the latter lack facts, logic and reason. I also find it saddening when you say: “It all comes down to what you've been raised to think, and how you think.” Which clearly indicates that you have made no efforts to disprove the validity of the set of beliefs that were spoonfed to you from birth.
Plot twist of the day: I was baptized, forced into Christianity and raised to think like the rest of my Christian family. Yet, if I hadn't questioned and rejected their faith at a fairly young age, I would be spewing out the same hogwash as you.

I see no reason to dislike people simply because they LIKE to think they're not alone, even when they're actually and physically alone. And, since basically every single culture found religion unaffected by each other, I can only see it as a sign that it's natural.

I do believe in evolution, however I like the principles of christianity (mostly protestantism), which is that forgiveness is very important, and that everyone is loved (by god, says the bible. I think we're supposed to read it as we're appreciated and helpful). You got a problem with that?

You can prove evolution by looking at skeletons and how the shapes and forms of different animals have changed throughout the many years. Even looking at animals and their young you can see it.

I'm not saying that until i've seen it or if I did that's not what I meant, I mean until there's 100% proof that a god is real and created this world. I personally would rather believe in things like the big bang theory and shit rather than something stupid like Christianity (i'm aware that there's more religions) the wonders of some peoples crazy imaginations decided to write in a book named the bible thousands of years after a person who is basically a magician apparently lived, performing miracles like turning water into wine or whatever and then passing the stories down. You've all read Metro 2033 and the part about the big worm and it's followers. It's easy to make up a story and tell all of your youngsters it's true.

Also to the guy that said read the thread before posting I got told there was a Religion thread and I should post there since I posted off topic on a different thread. This is the reason why I posted some points across twice.

The evolution theory has to be true, think about it. Survival of the fittest is what it is. If you don't adapt to your environment and learn to live in it then you will die. The animals most adept at living in the environment it calls home is much more likely to live and reproduce making more animals with the same features. A rabbit with a bright white fur isn't going to survive very long in the wild if it lives in the brown plains of Africa whereas a brown rabbit will be more camouflaged and be less likely to be spotted by and eaten up by a eagle.

In the Pets thread I called Skaara "a good man", and I still stand by that, regardless of his faith.
No need to stop being a lady :eek:hwell: No, I don't "have a problem with that". But I would like to point out to you that you do not need religion to live by those doctrines.
What I do have a problem with though, is when entitled religious nutcases start using the scripture as a means to justify their evil deeds.

The reason I believe in these prophesies, is because of the impossibility of the events being made by "followers" of the writers, and Science have proven this statement true.

I cannot prove that the Evolution theory is wrong. If you showed me all the proof in the world to convince me, I could never know if that proof is fake. What the scientists say and show us, it could be fake. (Of course, there's a very small chance of that).

Just like this, I can show you all the proofs that has convinced me that there is a God, but you could still never be one hundred percent sure that it's true. It could all be false.

It's not like I don't believe in science like it's "the work of Satan". I learn lots about science and it's very fascinating and informative, and gives me a larger view at the world.

I'm not 100% sure that there is a God either. But I'm young, and the more I study this one religion, the more and more logicly and fascinating it becomes. All my attempts to disprove my religion has been neutrialized and failed.

I'm curious about something, Cerberus. Can I ask you this question? Why all the hate against religion?

This thread won't lead us anywhere, that's true, but we upgrade our skills within debatement and ways of using arguments, and especially learning about other sorts of opinions and beliefs. :3

Start studying all religions and the plagiarized stories they present as their own. I would also highly recommend reading the works of Friedrich Nietzsche. There's no way reading and understanding(!) Nietzsche will result in a failed attempt.
Because it holds the entire human race back intellectually. It is an upholder of the status quo.
