    When you decide in your head: " Ok, let's talk to them, logic will show them the way.... logic will show them!!" but you keep ending up on this kind of discussion:
    *Atheist brings up a fact X*
    Theist:" It is not so"
    Atheist:" Then gimme a reason for that"
    Theist: "Because God made it so"

    You understand, thestalker, that after 2 or 3 times you just can't help thinking they are idiots!

    Because i don't expect people to abandon religion (though i'd surely like it), but i expect them to embrace a religion KNOWING that is just faith and nothing else. They can't act like the world actually works that way!

    See Assyrians are Christian but we aren't part of any of the branches of Christianity that you know of. Assyrians were the first Christians and follow EXACTLY what Christ said such as the following:

    -Always treat people kindly
    -Forgive your enemies
    -Love your friends and family
    -Help everyone

    We follow what Christ did. I may be Christian but when I see some of these people "NO ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG YOUR WRONG IT'S GOD" I agree God did have a part of it but it's not all God. God lets things roll out how they are and he sometimes steps in the help you if you're good or hinder you if you're bad.

    In fact Assyrians don't even follow the Catholic pope we have our own pope and our own cardinals and everything. Assyrians are Christians.

    Guys, I'm an atheist and I'm fine with people believing in whatever they want as long as they don't try to convert me aggressively. Not one religious person on this forum has tried this, so I am fine with all of you. To be honest, it is the atheists on the forum who seem to act with ignorance for the beliefs of fellow men & women. Note: I haven't read through all of this topic, but I did post my thoughts two or three pages back and read some of it.

    I am a Roman Catholic. I think that people have a lot of misconceptions about Catholicism (including many Catholics!). I see people have been mentioning faith and reason. So I wanted to say that faith and reason are not opposites at all. A really good papal encyclical is Fides et Ratio.

    Indeed, I'm a Roman Catholic too, and I have Faith and reason. They support eachother completely. I've never seen any contradictions there.

    most intresting religion discussion i have read :) . (I read page 1-10,39 and 40) Hope the pages I dident read was as mature and frendly as the rest :) .

    I was born christian, my mother was religious my father not, my grandparants on one side of the family was very religious and on the other side of the family not at all. My mother never spoke about religion, nor my father, nor my religious grandparants infact. So I grow up completely free to make up my own mind.

    I ended up an atheists. Infact I think I never belived in god, mabe in kindergarden.

    I think it bafeling how many contredictions there are in the bibel. And the fact that a churche consil desidet what parts should be in the bibel and what not, for ME, makes it totaly unbelivebel.

    But I, as everyone else, have no prof if god exist or not. So I, as religious people choose to belive, I choose NOT to. And I hope I dont offend enyone by saying so, If god existed, I whould openly defy him. Because in the bible, his not very nice. exterminating people because things dident turn out as he hoped, do this do that, you must blindly follow or burn in hell, and such.

    But I whil defend the right to free speech and free will whit my life if need be. And that includes the right to belive in whaterver religion you want :)

    I don't believe in god like that. He is described as a father who watches over his children, but that's not really what I see it like. To me, it more closely resembles "Mother nature" for illustration.
    Also I think the church needs to angle their marketing towards more co-existing with science, because that's how most people see it these days, including myself. Making your religion a counterpart to almost undeniable stuff like evolution makes you seem like you live in the middle ages.

    However I believe in the christian(or more accurately, the protestant) philisophies, and that's why I'm christian and will be confirmed in a month :)
    I think what the new Pope Francis is doing at the moment is exactly what Christianity is. Respecting the one next to you.
