Not being on the forum, for over a week, doesn't feel right.

 I swear that the radar system is spinning, a little faster, from the last time I saw it.

Hi guys! I've finally established a radio signal from the orbit of Pluto (Definitely a real planet) and can somewhat be more active on the forums again, but still not at all.

My training has been "Fun" although a little on the soul crushing side, however we've all come to realize that BMQ isn't the military at all but rather a part of our application process, a big test to see who the quiters are. We are now the senior platoon here at the school with week 9's on our chest. This week we will learn TOPO (maps and compass) and CBRN (getting gassed!) and then we will head back to Farnham (which is we're all the fieldwork takes place) and live in tents for a week. Then I will graduate and be a "Trooper" as armoured crewman are called. Off to Gagetown, Newbrunswick I will wait for my course to begin...

I miss my simple life already. But this is still the biggest thing I've embarked on and I don't want it to stop.

I've changed it a few times to get smaller size. Maybe your browser cached an older version before. Anyway, it looks about right:

Make a photo report when you get the time.

@Aaron: :D
Great work Aaron! Glad to know those hellish, Plutonian creatures haven't gotten to you. You can do it. ;) And, from the picture, I think what you're doing looks exciting.

@Komodo: Haha, yeah, it does look like it is, in sync, to the video. I guess the earlier versions did really screw-up my bandwidth and made it appear sluggish. I applaud you. :p

The photo was taken during our 13km forced rucksack march which was more of a constant jog thanks to slow pokes not keeping pace at the front. While we were there we also did the repel tower and shooting range. Both times it was -30 out and blowing wind like mad. It sucked big time. My rifle jammed 2 times from the cold in 30 minutes. Not to mention my tiny wittle fingers...

Good to finally hear from you, Aaron! :D
Sucks to hear you haven't had that much fun, but it'll probably get better when and if you get into a tank.
I was at a cosplay-cafe once (weird, I know. Dressed up as a metro ranger) and ended up sipping coffee and small-talking with a guy who was currently on probation or something from the military. He said that, in a nutshell, the military service was just shooting at targets a few times, and mostly sleeping spoon-style with other guys, stuffed into a way too small tent in the freezing cold. I haven' been much motivated to go there after being told that. But still, it's very tempting to fix military vehicles, that's all I want.

Anyway, good luck further on with your journey! :)

That's insanely cold. Coldest weather I've been in was -5 F, or -20 C.

And the military tents might be small, but, at least from what I've experienced, they keep you really warm... and if you're using a down-feather sleeping bag, you'll begin to sweat in your sleep (then again, I've never used a pup tent in -30 C weather).

Hey Skaara! Long time no sunflower boot lace huh?

This course has been both shitty and fun at the same time. I've done so much awesome stuff and so many shitty things that it has accumulated into the greatest experience in my life. And this is just basic training, let alone my DP1 or actual career. I would never say that being here was a mistake, just a crazy adventure I'm on.

In other news I ordered a GT80 Titan labtop to play games on while I'm away from home. Damned thing costs $3600! But I get a military deal where it just comes off my paycheck in small incriminates. Now I can play war thunder tanks in my tank!

This perfectly summarises this generation of soldiers (grew up on first person shooters and war games as opposed to experiencing the hardships of wars that no one wants to fight)... no offence. :p

Hmm, wow, I've never thought of it like that, but when you do say it, I guess it's very true.

Well, yeah; that, and the way "war," between nations, has changed when it comes to actually fighting the war -in a sense. Combat, today: you can take out a small enemy base, with a unmanned drone, flying thousands of feet in the air, as opposed to, say, WWII, where it had to be done by a squad of men. I know, that's kind of a bad example, but, I hope you get the drift.

I do think the military is cool, on it's own, though. I've been tempted to join the military -mainly the airforce or the marines- but I haven't done so (obviously). Probably the best time to do so, anyway, since there isn't any "real" war going on, right now, between the U.S. and another nation(s).

I'm also going camping, with a group of friends, sometime, next week; so I'll be absent, for a few days. (I also feel like I've use the comma, too many times, in this post). :p

Yes, I get you and I agree. Of course, this isn't true for the whole world, but definitely for all first world and most second world countries.

The military on its own? The idea of hard training, camaraderie, putting yourself to the test and gaining skills minus many boring hours, the possibility of being deployed to kill fellow human beings and the fact that you're serving someone else's sick agenda? Yes, I can see the appeal and I've been tempted numerous times as well. However, remember that if one signs up voluntarily then they are obliged to remain in service for a set amount of time (and if a war breaks out during that period...), but of course this varies between countries.

Have fun! :D And it's fine, it just gives your post a slightly different style of reading than usual.

I remember. I think, over here in the U.S., one must be enlisted, for 4-years, once they've signed up, before they are able to properly, resign, from the military. Also, it depends on what one chooses to do, in the military, that determines how much "action" one would see in the face of war -such as wanting to be a crew member, for a tank, versus somebody who would like to be a military vehicle repair man. The tank crew member will have the same basic skills as the repair man -basic aid, hand to hand combat, familiarity with basic armaments- but each would excel own their own separate field of study, that compliments their line of work, and will be called upon where the skill in needed, appropriately. More than likely, someone who was taught how to manage a tank will see more action that somebody who can repair a tank.

As for me, I would want to be part of a crew who gets to work with, either the B-52, or the Lockheed AC-130 (also a pilot for the A-10 warthog). Oh yeah: and what said about " the military, on it's own." When I said it (typed it), it made sense, in my head; but, now that I go back and read it, I'm not too sure with what I meant by it.

Thanks :) I'll try to take some pics.

I couldn't find a short enough video about, U.S. soldiers, that was actually funny, so I guess I'll leave this Russian one, which I really like:

This is what happened last week in the city where I attend college:

Another event is planned to happen here on the 21st of March, called the "White Man March"... whereas the Pegida demo was anti-Islam and generally far right, this other one is less covert about what it preaches and organised by neo-Nazis.

I'm pretty sure there should be a law in britain that anyone affiliated with EDL, Britain First or any fascist 'completely non-racist' organisation like them should lose their right to vote

I laughed at the part when, a rivalry group of Nazis, showed up, to the rally; but, I think, the people there, at the protest, are being too paranoid about Islamic influences. I highly doubt the entirety of Britain is going to dress and oppress women due to any Islamic religious laws, that may be practiced, by some Islamic immigrants. Nonetheless, if Britain ever gets close to be an Islamic nation, wouldn't the Queen of Britain/England have something to say, before that would happen? Not that Islam is bad, but, for the sake of the argument. Sometimes, I think people don't think things through before they go out to protest.
