Thanks, though I can't say I've been here for all the time. I took a pretty long hiatus at some point, can't remember its duration exactly. It was related to my exams at the time... soon I will have even more important tests coming up, yet I'm still here often, which probably means that I've grown stupider with time (or wiser and more realistic, as I like to think, but "defeatist" is perhaps closer to the truth). I really love this community though, it's the only forum I frequent nowadays. Of the members who still check in, even if not as often as they used to, I believe Von Streff is the one who has been here for the longest.

Indeed, I just checked our profiles and it looks like I joined only a day after you! :lol:

It has grown to a delightful community over the many moons. I've said this times before, but this was the first forum I joined. Afterward, once I got the hang of navigating a forum, I tried branching off to other communities; but they were never as welcoming, fun, and interesting as this one. Something about it makes me never want to leave and turn away*stares at the star on top of the Kremlin* Must be the same reason Streff keeps coming back .

And I do believe it was you who once created a tread called "This Forum is Too Addicting," or something similar to that name. I've fallen into that faze before -heck I'm pretty sure I'm still in it- and it feels strange letting more than a day or two slip by of not visiting.

I think my PSU is about to kick the bucket... at least I hope that's the case, as replacing the mobo would cost me considerably more hassle and money. Basically, I've been getting random resets since a good few weeks ago, but they are becoming more frequent. I used to think they happen only after playing a game for a while, however it seems that is not the case anymore as I've just had it happen to me when browsing the forum.

Aww, that sucks, man. Try scanning for viruses...you never know. And I really doubt this would work, and I advise you that you not try it (unless you're sure that you're going to buy another one) is to give the mobo (motherboard, right?) a small soapy bath and let it sit there overnight. Haha, weird, right? That use to be the fix for old apple computer, from the 90s, because their capacitors leaked acid, onto the tracks of the circuit board, and would mess things up. The bath would wash away the acid on the board and substitute as a temporary fix. The computers worked after the bath, but, again, the capacitors would leak and eventually need to be replaced.

I decided to change my major (Electrical Engineering), in school, to a fire fighter. It's a big difference between the two, but I just know too many people who have studied hard to be one thing but they end up working, in a field, that has nothing to do with what they went to school for. I know that's a poor way to judge a decision like this, but I'd rather do something that I studied for rather than doing something entirely opposite. I know that there's always "the chance" of me landing a cool job, but I'm being realistic here. There's a ton of engineers out there -and really, companies only need one engineer mechanical/civil/electrical of each (at least now days), to do some tasks that the computer does for them. I do think electrical engineering is interesting, but I also decided that I wouldn't want to do it as a full time profession -more as a hobby. I've already taken some classes in circuitry and happen to have a good understating in reading schematics and actually assembling the components. Who know, perhaps I can finally make a nixie clock/watch .
As for wanting to be a firefighter: It just seems awesome and I feel like it's a thing I could become passionate about.

I noticed that Harley was on today; but yeah, hopefully nothing happens. I tried creating my own forum on a website, and it's quite easy to use, but I'm not liking the skins that you get to use for the forum. All of them are pre-made and it's hard to change them. I'd snatch the theme from this forum, but I do not know how and building one from scratch would be very complicated for somebody -such as myself- who knows nothing about coding.

You guys could give it a try if you'd like.

Edit: holy crap! I think I've figured it out. Here's a link to the forum I'm creating:..... . As you can see, it's not complete, but perhaps I could replicate this one and we can all have it as a backup in case this one gives.

Edit#3: nope, the link somehow becomes broken when I post it. Somehow, the internet knows it's a website and blocks it out when you put those two words together). There is a way to fix this via the website's code, but I have yet to figure it out.


You might get some yellow letter "M" on the right hand side of the border ( I can't figure out how to get rid of them). Anyway, a small fix around it is to CTRL and + until it disappears. There's nothing exciting that I posted on there (only the default forum post that comes with the forum). Anyway, we should probably make it our second forum away from this one. If you guys come up with a better one, feel free to share it

Well, it went down and was inaccessible today for about six hours. So I assumed it's gone.

Sorry, that post was unfinished (I edited it when the forum was going crazy, but instead of adding the stuff it deleted more than half of what was there earlier). After that I could not post anything or even log back in, graphics started disappearing and the page did not load... and that was just a few minutes ago. Are these like post-death convulsions or is the forum staying after all?

Looks like HarleyQuinn still doesn't want anything to do with us, otherwise she would have taken the few minutes out of her "very busy" schedule to explain to us what's going on. I hope she does whatever needs to be done to keep this forum alive. After all, it's beneficial for her to keep it up so that she can continue to exploit yous and take all the income.

Great idea with the backup forum, Nuclear! :thumb: Now we'll have our Metro if the nukes drop. And well done with transferring the forum theme (Although you fukd up the background ). I once owned a forum but was never able to add my own themes no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't even edit the standard ones. I was just able to change which of the standard themes to activate. I believe it was Enjin.com. It has more functions and smoother appearances than Forum Motion, if I'm not mistaken.

If the forum ever goes down, it'll probably be because it'll lose value and rather cost Harley more than it earns her. In that case, I'd be willing to buy it for a small ammount of money, but if it ever just shuts down and disappears, you'll have deserved your title and position as Owner in the new forum, which we'd transfer to

I talked to someone IRL about the forum a couple days ago, and first when I said it out loud, I realized how unfair it really is that we're being exploited like this. Sure, we don't have to worry about maintenance, and we're free to use the forum for whatever we like, but we're held in the shadows with no information at all and not that much power to change things either. In addition, we're the reason that Harley's Company is making money on this forum, and it's probably a lot. As a token of reward, or as a way to apologize all the annoying ads, they should at least give us a small ammount of the share. :noidea:

 

So, i assume it won't go down after all ? I'd hate it if that happens just when i got back? :rant::tsk:
