I was kinda hoping my thread about that mental, real life escape game would spark at least a bit of activity... but I guess if E3 didn't bring any new posts then this won't either. Still, I recommend checking out if there's anything like that where you live. It was so bloody good, I think anyone looking for some thrills should check it out (assuming you don't have any heart conditions or phobias, in which case they wouldn't let you in anyway coz they'd end up with a corpse or crazed person on their hands heh).

EU migrants, resident status or not, are not allowed to vote in general elections and we couldn't vote in this referendum either... which is ironic considering how much this affects us. Right now I just hope that they won't pass any laws against us in the near future, that my university studies and finances are secure, and that I won't have to get a visa for every time that I'd like to visit Poland. My brother will probably find it even harder to find a job now. It's also interesting if we will be able to leave at all without losing everything we've worked for in this country as a family. Before the referendum, if I left the UK for more than two weeks, I'd lose my resident status here and would be considered the same as anyone fresh off the boat/plane as soon as I got back - it would take me another 5 years of living here with worse conditions to get resident status again. Now that Britain is actually leaving the EU, I don't know how much that will change.

Even so, if I could vote then I would choose not to. I don't really support the farce that is parliamentary politics (for example: this referendum was not legally binding, so whatever the results were going to be the government could have done anything they wanted to). Besides, had Britain stayed in the EU, the conditions on which it would have remained were already new ones (reduced benefits and healthcare for European migrants among other terms) decided by Cameron and accepted by Brussels - so my situation as an immigrant in this country was going to get worse either way. Still, I believe what actually happened is the shittier option.

It is indeed. Lately we had a surprising surge of activity, but more recently it seems even deader than usual.

I guess it might be due to the fact that Nuclear (who usually checks in quite often) can't really visit the forum as his PC is broken and Skaara is I think actually away on a trip somewhere. Plus it doesn't help that some of the forum members check our chat, but completely forget about posting here. :p

4270 blaze it! ...... oh well, it was close enough

Correct, the forum has been extra dead recently because of Nuclear and I missing, but now I'm back.... from the hike of my life!
In Norway there's a mountain-area called Jotunheimen. My bud (he who introduced me to Metro) and I have taken a hike from cabin to cabin for six days in these mountains, and we've walked more than 92 kilometers. We've been stalked by ravens, seen a moose and a herd of reindeer, and we've seen some topless girls at the top of Galdhøpiggen, Norway's highest mountain. We missed our fencing lesson on Saturday of course, so we did our own practicing on the top of Norway's second highest mountain.
And then we slid almost all the way down on the snow-covered glaciers, using our rain-ponchos

In addition to the two highest mountains, we've also crossed two steep and kinda dangerous and popular tourist areas called Bukkelægeret and Besseggen, the latter you can see here:

We've also met a lot of interesting people from different countries along the way, like an old man from Czech Republic trying to explain that he saw four Reindeer, holding his fingers up from his head and saying "Karabo, Karabo!", and a woman by the name of "Lee" from California in the southern USA.

The two first couple days, we were at the most spectacular places and the weather was great and we had a lot of energy. The rest of the trip was a good experience, but it was also a pain; we had to walk very very far through deep wet snow to get to the top of the two highest mountains, in foggy weather, and then we had to walk a very very very long way back to the car in god awful heavy rain

I've taken a whole heap of pictures that I'll upload when I can be bothered to, and then post the link to them here :)

Good to see you back with us and that trip sounds fantastic. Reminds me of that time when I went to the Tatras in Southern Poland/Northern Slovakia, although I never did anything quite as extreme when it comes to heights I think.

Ooooh, that looks real nice. Do you remember the name of the peak(s) you were on? (If you were on any, that is) :) Apparently the tallest one is Gerlachovský štít at 2655 meters above sea level. The two tallest in Norway, that we climbed, were a little less: 2469 and 2465.

My legs and lungs were aching and fiercely fighting in the snow, but with each step closer to the top, I could hear Breaking Benjamin - I Will Not Bow louder and louder in my head, and oh boi did it help, especially with the lyrics in the refrain

And it was of course worth it, when I was greeted at the top by several good-looking girls at my age pulling off their shirts and taking a photoshoot in sports-brahs

Noice. :D And I can't recall any names at the moment unfortunately, it was 5 years ago. Plus it was more about seeing the sights and trekking through both the mountains and the valleys rather than reaching specific peaks, although we did hit a few along the way. I don't remember which ones though. One thing I do recall is that I think I had an opportunity to reach Świnica, but that may have been one that I skipped. It's stupid that I can only remember the one I probably didn't go on, isn't it?

Your trip actually reminded me of how awesome it would be to return there someday. I've been hiking across the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, and the Peak District here in the UK a few times, but it's not quite the same. Very beautiful and there are fewer tourists, however these mountains are much smaller than the Tatras and there are more hills than peaks here. Too few forests as well, at least compared to back home. In any case, both places have their own unique beauty and different atmosphere, I guess I'm just a bit homesick for the ones that I get to see less.

I don't go hiking that often to be honest, but I do like doing it and had the opportunity to see various places in England like that during the years I've lived here. I've been to Scotland a few times, only Edinburgh really, so I haven't done any hiking there. But your comment actually reminded that I still have never been to Wales at all.

Thanks for recommending Snowdania to me, it looks absolutely beautiful. I think that would make for a nice family trip and it would be a good reason to finally go to Wales. :)

I just browsed through my old music files and found that I still have some different songs/tunes from Last Light lying around. I listened to them all, and gods.... how the heck am I going to be able to play Metro in VR if I can't even listen to the music without getting goosebumps and looking over my shoulders all the time?

Well, I've finally come to the decision that I will get a Saxophone. I'm already in the process of buying a used one, hopefully I'll be able to get it tomorrow :)

    ......soon..

I really like the look of this game. Kinda nostalgic.
