Don't forget that the studio has to put their efforts into making trailers now.

I like the movie like trailers they have. If you ask me they should make a short movie like how they did for Halo 4 with Forward Unto Dawn. It can give some backstory to what has happened right after the Dark Ones' nest was destroyed.

Or they can make a movie about a station fighting another station to show how the universe is in Metro.

I wonder what the difference in price is when it comes to making an in-game trailer vs a live action one?

Most likely a lot. Live action ones require a lot more resources and would most likely cost a ton more.

Seeing as you are paying for actors, equipment, crew, and set, it would take a lot more to do live action trailers than animated ones, which is basically tossing some computer animations, voice actors, and graphic designers into a room with some equipment.

Well some games have a cheaper live action trailer budget. A game like CoD or BF3, since they're modern games it's a lot easier to get the needed items for it. A game like Metro is a lot harder. You need a really convincing set, costumes (Custom helmets, expensive gas masks, guns that look aged and guns that are custom made), and people with Russian accents :).

    Hey guys!

Sorry I wasn't here much the last week. The last few weeks we've been going over almost 2 years worth of Metro: Last Light information, talking to the developer, and looking at all the things related to getting this game released with the attention it deserves.

Right now there's no NEW information to share... yet. Soon! :)

I can touch on a few things, however.

PSN Store took down the pre-order because it was tied to a Homefront promotion. Since THQ is no longer releasing it, I think they decided to just cancel all pre-orders because otherwise they would have to deal with "everyone" asking where their Homefront copy is.

For retail pre-orders, these *should* just automatically change to the same game in a slightly different box.

We've also learned a bit more about the Limited Edition content. Can't say anything specific about this right now, but some info wasn't communicated as completely as it could have in the past which I think would've alleviated *some* of the concerns. For now what I can say is that if the LE stays the way it is (due to issues arising from removing content people already paid for with a pre-order in some countries), it is only limited in that there will be a limited amount of these box versions for launch.

While we of course hope 50 million people will buy Metro: Last Light at launch, there's always a possibility you'll be able to find an LE version in a store in the week or so after launch. It is not very common that an entire first run of a game sells out immediately, and you've probably received a Special Edition or Limited Edition of a game before, even though you bought it well after the release date. Once that initial batch is sold out, the regular version will be in stores without LE content.

Also, even if you do not end up with an LE copy of Last Light, you will not be 100% excluded and you will still get a chance to play Ranger Mode whenever you do buy it.

I'd love to go into full details but we're still putting all the pieces into place, and getting everything ready to go, as we speak. There are a lot of aspects to this transition from THQ to Deep Silver, and many of them aren't very exciting. But they can be time consuming. Once we start the communication anew and have an official release date to share, talking about these things will be a lot easier :)

The specifics on how this is going to work will be revealed later once we can, of course. We're still looking into it ourselves. The essence is that there should be options for players so that it won't end up as a very black & white case of 1) pre-order and get it or 2) have no access to it ever in any way ever ever.

Everything's fine as long as we aren't charged for an on-disc 108kb unlock key.

you will be, otherwise those people who pre-ordered thinking that ranger hardcore was a available for a limited number of copies will be pissed.
