Nah, the mojoirty will be happy of no day one dlc. Maybe it's like plaque inc. where if you beat the game you unlock stuff or you can pay.

No way I'm shelling out for an unlock key. And, by default, no way will I support a product that features such anti-gamer nonsense. When I pay full price, I want a full game and nothing less. So the only reasonable solution to that problem is to make it a timed exclusive or simply include a day one update that unlocks the mode for everyone.

So can I safely preorder this for Xbox 360 knowing that I'll get it in March?

Why not just have Ranger Mode for only new versions of the game?

I am really surprised there is no new information after 2 or 3 weeks of waiting. I am just gonna assume that the game will not come out till later this year because everyday i look online and search for new info for the game and it's too much anticipation for me and if they(Last Light devs/publishers) cannot tell us even the latest date that we should receive this then I think it will definitely be delayed past march. I really love the Metro series but I think I am going to forget about this game for a few months. Then after a few months, there should be new information and a solid release date to look forward to.

The fact that the game was not listed in the Gameinformer march line up means that it is most likely delayed since they never contacted them about the release date. There is too much happening right now for the game to be released and it's better for it to be delayed, Deepsilver and 4A take a step back and see what they need to do.

Because that's the equivalent of an online pass; one of the cancers of this industry.

Well if you support the developers then you get ranger mode. Didn't Witcher 2 do the same thing though? And what's so bad about it either? Not like it's going to be a lot of money. It would be cheaper than in Metro 2033 since you won't be getting the extra 2 weapons. At least it isn't a pre-order only thing.

Stop with this idiotic "support the developers"-argument. This has got nothing to do with them. The developers aren't the ones restricting access to Ranger Mode, the publisher is. Besides, that's not the issue. This is single player content we are talking about, Ranger Mode is an essential part of the Metro experience and making it inaccessible for players is a dick move no matter how you look at it.

I'd say its worse than day one dlc. It's just treating all customers as pirate guilty until proven innocent.

Single player games are the games that get pirated. Witcher 2 has done the same thing but I don't see you complaining about it. You buy a new copy of it you get some extra shit. Simple as that.

    Well said.
Had too look this up since I didn't know about it but like Stalker pointed out, they had an epiphany and got rid of that crap. So no, I don't have to complain about it.

Yes but they should do it. If you're buying a used game you're already saving money even if you have to buy it. I remember I bought Homefront used for like 25 bucks not long after it came out. I then found out I had to pay 10 bucks for a online pass. I wasn't really complaining since the game was still $60 and I only paid a total of $35. The DLC wouldn't cost much but it would give some incentive for people to buy it new.
