Did you have a manual or did you just figured things out on your own?

When it came to recipes and other nonsense, I would look it up on the wiki. With general gameplay, I took the time to learn the basics and other mumbo jumbo that you needed to know in order to survive Minecraft. I also watched a lot of Minecraft videos back then so that also benefited my gameplay experience.

I pretty much figured it by myself after watching a few Youtube tutorials and some of my friends play. Took me some time to get into some of the more advanced features though xD

When I started playing Minecraft for the first time, I always looked on the wiki some tutorials, craftable materials, etc.
But then I memorized everything, so I don't go to wiki anymore.

The only advice I ever had was that punching trees gives you wood. I mean, how on earth would anybody figure that out? But after that, the rest just sort of came to me rather easy. Maybe it's because I started off with the iPad version, which is (or was at the time) ten times more simple.

A lot of the stuff I learned was just watching Let's Plays from my favorite Youtubers and a lot of it was experimenting. I never really read up on documentations and such because... well... i'm not too sure why I didn't but honestly I didn't really survive that long because it would be my friends that would kill me before any mobs did haha

I figured things out on my own and it took forever to get it all down. But at least I can say that I actually played the game with no help or instruction and did just fine. I'm not mad at the people taht had to use them lol it's a pretty complicated game.

I ran around and then died and then yelled husband what in the world is this? So he showed me what I was supposed to do. After you figure out the basics its not so hard to play.

When I first started I figured a lot out on my own, but I did turn to Internet crafting recipes for the more advanced stuff I couldn't figure out.

I came into Minecraft WAY later than most people. I had heard a lot of the lingo, knew "creepers" were bad (but no idea what they looked like), etc. When I downloaded and launched my first game I purposefully didn't want to look anything up. A game should be able to teach you how to play without having to look up guides on a third party website. I definitely found my way around, survived until night, PANICKED as I met zombies, probably almost died to a creeper, etc. It was such a rush to discover things like a crafting table, an axe, a sword. I learned to survive on my own, learned how to collect the basic blocks, made a makeshift house, and thought my little Minecraft life was complete.

After that point, though, I started wondering what was out there that I HADN'T learned yet! So I ventured to the wiki... and lo and behold there it was like an entirely new game opened up to me. Enchanting, wizards, the Nether, the Ender dragon (which I still have yet to see...) It was like someone took my little survival game and turned it up 10 notches.

All said I'm really happy I started in pure "explorer" mode - learning as I went, and as need dictated. I think it's easy for us to gloss over the basics in games in favor of advanced tactics. But there's a reason those basics exist - they are the foundation of the harder things, and it's nice to appreciate them for a time.

When I started Minecraft, I just read up crafting recipes from the wiki. I didn't really research anything other than crafting recipes and a few other things, because I wanted to experience the game. The reason I looked up crafting recipes, is that I didn't really find it fun to just randomly plop things in the crafting bench, and spend all my time I could have spent playing, fiddling with the crafting menu.

I figured out the game entirely from friends and the wiki, and I remember checking the wiki ever minute to make sure I'm doing everything right and how to craft everything. For the first week or so I didn't have a clue on how to do anything, but my friends helped me learn how to play and all the basics, and left the rest to me to understand and use common sense, which paid off, since it has helped me learn everything about Minecraft even faster. If they had just laid out a manual for me, I would've thought that was all there was to the game, but instead they let me figure most of it out for myself.

When I first started playing this game, I already know the basics because I've watched many playthrough of this game on Youtube. So, reading manual is not necessary for me anymore.

I had to google how to make a crafting table because I had no clue. but after that I figure out basically everything but cake. Damn cake is complicated to make!

I'm proud to say I figured everything out by myself. When I started playing I don't even think that there were manuals for the game. The hardest part for me to learn was the crafting but once I got a hang of it I didn't really have too much of a problem. I don't like the idea of using a guide for Minecraft. It's supposed to be an exploration game and that kind of defeats the purpose. If you have everything laid out for you like that then you might as well play one of the billions of other games that just provide you with all the basics and tutorials from the beginning.

I figured out a lot of stuff on my own, just through trial and error. Of course some very intricate things like railcraft I had to lookup, but part of the fun initially was discovering new items but randomly combining stuff.

Most of the regular tasks I figured out on my own. In regards to crafting recipes, that I used the wiki for. I am not sure how one would figure out what there is available to craft or how to craft it without using an aid. I am sure there is a way, but I just wanted to craft and not have to find out how.

I've watched a few videos before I started playing so I guess I had a general idea of the game. However, when I started I still didn't really have any idea what was happening. After playing for about 30 minutes, I started understanding how the game worked, but I still needed to go online to find how to craft items.

My two friends who invited me to try out Minecraft were the ones who taught me the ins and outs of the game. Minecraft was the first game I have played where you just get thrown out there without a specific mission to accomplish. Kind of confusing at first, but having friends to play with from the very start helped a lot.

When I started I ran everywhere like a chichen with it's head cut off. After I died the first time I looked up a begginer tutorial for the first night and I stumbled upon paulsoaresjr.
He taught me all the basics that I needed to know and I just started from there.
