I always liked the Russians over the Canadians while I worked at Falcon. They were so much more friendly and open about themselves then the grumpy American born workers (by American I mean north American countries).

Were the Americans would slack off and cut corners the Russians would push harder. Never complaining or calling in sick. The only people who worked harder than the Russians were the 4 guys from a jungle tribe somewhere between Thailand and Myanmar. They have a pretty depressing story but damn do they work hard!

That's really not anything to do with being Russian or of any nationality, really... well, it is partially, but not entirely. It's more related to the country's economical situation. For example: the Brits who I know and those who my parents know consider Poles a really hard-working people. They (obviously, I'm talking about the average Brit here - and not a racist) often give us the same type of compliments and assign the same positive qualities to our style of working as you just did to the Russians.

What I'm trying to say is that a person doesn't work hard because he or she is Polish, Russian or of any another nationality. It's because immigrants generally work harder than the native people of a country (especially so if they are moving from a poorer area - like Eastern Europe or Africa - to a wealthier area - like Western Europe or North America). We come from countries where we have to work harder for less money, and since we are not entirely equal abroad, we will work twice as hard to stay in a society where we can earn more money and live with more comfort.

So, as you mentioned in your post, only those people from an Asian tribe work harder than the Russians you know. This is because, obviously, a member of a tribe has to struggle for survival a lot more than the average person in Russia.
