Do you get lost easily while exploring?

I do get lost but I find its actually quite fun because you see a whole other side of minecraft and before you know it you know every where and maybe even everything, and building gets so much more fun.

I get lost more than I'd like to admit as well. I try to use certain "techniques" to stop getting lost though. The one I use most is only putting torches on the right walls. With this, I know that I am on my way back if I see torches on the left, rather than on the right.

At first I would get lost, but when I figured out how to make a map I would do that first. Make a map and then you won't ever get lost as your settlement appears on the map. That is the key to not getting lost. As with digging downward to get rewards, all you need to do is make a suitable mine for yourself under your house. Still a map is helpful.

That's clever if you're mining underground but what if you're exploring over ground? you'd get lost quite easily then :p

Oh yes. For sure. I used to play in multiplayer with friends and I would go out exploring and I would get lost so easily. So I just make sure I make a couple stacks of torches before I leave and I make a trail of them, or I use my map. Even if I messed up and died, the torches would let me find my way back quickly so I could pick up my stuff.

Also, underground I always put my torches on the left side. On the way back I just follow the torches on the right.

I hate this... I get lost a lot. Another annoying thing is, when I die and I turned on respawning, I don't know how to travel to my instant house. This means I've got to build up a new house, knowing there is another one where I've spent a lot of time on.

More often then I would like to admit. haha, I started using the mod called Rei's Minimap however and it is a HUGE help. I can't tell you how many times it has saved me. It almost feels like cheating. haha So much so that I sometimes don't use it while playing my vanilla single player maps.

I get lost quite often because I get carried away and I go into adventurer mode, but luckily I always keep around 1-2 stacks of dirt that can be used as a string which helps me out of the cave if I do get lost.

    Hey guys,
This thread had only "yes" and "no" answers. Why don't we help each other so we don't get lost anymore?! Do you place big landmarks? Do you make a map on paper while playing? Tell it here! If you don't do anything you don't have to say that though.

Oh dear On Mine Craft Lost is my middle name. If there was a contest for the person who gets lost the most I promise I'd win first place 5 years in a row. Mine Craft is always kind enough to start you off with a map that draws in the land as you explore. That proved to be extremely helpful to me. Except it's only helpful if you don't toss the map away. o_O

No matter how much I tell myself,"Don't throw away your map" it still happens. why? I eventually run out of space and it comes down to throwing away food, , etc or the map. I just recently figured out "Um hello you can get more food, that's one thing Mine Craft doesn't seem to run out of'." So I have a map,but the problem is although I have it I can never seem to remember to mark where my house is. So I'm always making another house just because I can never find my original house.

Yep! Can totally relate to a lot of you! Haha. I get lost all the time. And I always think I know exactly where my home is and I'll leave to go explore thinking that I'll only go off in one direction and that way it'll be impossible to lose my way... but what do you know, I always end up lost anyway, haha. I've been trying to remember to leave breadcrumbs as I go, sometimes torches or wood planks or anything that I happen to have an excess of on hand. Sucks because when I run out I have to go back and get more from inventory before I explore further, but it's worth it not to have to keep rebuilding!

What do you mean place big land marks? anyway, what I do is, I place a block of sand/gravel on the ground and make it follow the direction I came from, I also put torches on top of them incase it gets dark and I can't see where the path is

When I am in a dungeon or just mining, I always tend to get lost. I am an adventurous person I guess, when I see lava or more mineral, I would just go deeper and deeper until I find diamond. But then I would just entirely get lost.

I get lost all the time it's not even funny. I can't stay in one place for a long time so i wander alot and not really trying real hard to remember my way back. Wherever the night catches me, I just dig the ground and hide from monsters there at night and get lost again the next day. I just sort of accepted the fact that getting lost is what i do best in minecraft. LOL

Yes all the time lol. It's part of the fun in my opinion. Getting lost and trying to find your way back, not knowing what danger lurks. It's the best. That, and exploring dark dungeons. You never know what kind of creatures are down there.

I actually do get lost quite easily too, especially when I'm caving. It's best to write down your home coordinates somewhere so that you know where to travel to get back home. But getting lost is part of Minecraft, which makes it fun!

I used to. Now I make a serious effort to always watch out for any sort of landmarks. Sometimes I'll still get lost but not usually.

I'm always getting lost when I explore too far. On single player mode, I'm pretty much on my own. I usually just write down the coordinates of my home base before I go exploring. But when I'm on a server, public that is, I usually just use commands like /spawn or /home to get back to my place. It's much easier on servers because of the commands.

I do get lost all the time. I always try not to, but so it happens haha. I always thought it's fun though, it's kind of a part of the game. I love exploring, and you can't do it without getting lost from time to time, so it's ok. This happens especially when I'm after diamonds, I seem to have a really bad luck about that!
