Do you help new players?

Most of the time I take the time and stop doing something and try to get them started with the game. I give them a quick overview of WoW and give them some starting loot just so they don't get discouraged and continue playing it.
However, you can't always be the good guy. Sometimes I have to shove some beginners off of my list when I've got something really important to do :p

I try to help if someone is asking in chat, but the game has so much hand holding these days that no one really needs help anymore. Also worth keeping in mind that wikis and communities exist so a quick Google search can answer most questions.

Yeah, sure. When a new player comes to me, I always try my best to take their doubts and show them the right way to do things. I like helping to be honest. :)

WoW is so incredibly simple nowadays with all the changes they've made to make life easier. Showing exactly where to go for quests, making mounts incredibly cheap, never having to leave SW or Org to go to an instance. Virtually no one should have any trouble with the basic game-mechanics.

Even higher level PVP and PVE is stuff you have to learn on your own to get better at.

I usually make it a point to help new players, but if they are resisting to take advice I just give up on the idea right away. Some people just like to do their own thing, even if it's significantly worse in terms of efficiency. It's kind of hard to argue that, we all like what we like because; we like it.

I haven't played WoW for a while now, I do sub from time to time to get my fix hehe. I did try to help those that kindly asked for my help (yes care bear right here), although it would very much depend on what kind of help they wanted, let's say a question, or killing a mob or even a boost though a dungeon if I had the time and patience for it. I would not help anyone that would spam my chat tho, that's just annoying. I used to give the low level players a few gold as well (back when gold was actually hard to accumulate), but stopped doing that after WotLK hit.

When I played, it was nice to go in and get help from time to time if I asked a question. I tend to be more of a private player, keeping to myself but when I needed assistance, it was nice to know I could just ask and be helped.

I don't play anymore, but I always try and help new people out to an extent I don't give them free stuff but I try to give them advice and help with quest that they might need help with.

Most people will not. WoW is a hostile community. You will get called a "noob" a lot. Can't do anything about that.

Nowadays that does seems to be the trend, the community (or lack of it) has been changing for the worst in my opinion over the last couple expansions. However that was not the case in Vannila and TBC, there was actually a sense of community back then, most people were friendly and helpful and you could actually bound to people. I saw this aspect of the game (community wise) starting to break with the release of Wotlk. When I play now, I can still run into some nice and fun people, although not as frequently.

Most online communities have gone downhill now a days. The anonymity of the internet gives people the right to be jerks.

I always help out new players with tips and guidance. I never give out money or run them through dungeons because they need to learn the game. If I do everything for themselves they will get to level 90 and they won't be able to do anything.

I usually do yes but most of them don't ask in chat because there is a lot of websites out there that help you with completing quests and all. But many times newbies ask me for gold or silver and I do give them, because I know it's pretty hard to start getting lots of gold at the beginning.

I've always helped new players that I encountered because I was also a noob once and there were lots of awesome people who helped me grow and understand the game. I also never enjoyed killing obious beginners in the opposite faction since that's just killing the game for them and no one likes that. Instead, I would just harass them and scare them a little bit :D

I always help out new players when I'm around noob spawning areas. Sometimes when I have some gold left over, I will even gift them some. I don't really gift items because their level is too low compared to mine so it wouldn't even make sense. I learned the hard way by giving someone a purple item and seeing him/her run of to the nearest vendor and selling it.

If I'm not occupied at the moment, I try to help in some way. I remember being completely new to the game and people lending me a hand, so I try to do the same for others. Rather than just gifting someone gold then going about my business, I stick around for a while and help them complete any quests they're struggling on. A promising new player is always a great addition to any guild. I'm constantly on the lookout for guildless beginners that show some potential.

I used to give multiple runs of Wailing Caverns almost every day I log into WoW. Mind you, this was back during Vanilla, TBC and WotLK. I stopped doing it during Cata and Panda. The game feels a bit alien to me these days.

I'm usually bad for just messing around and wasting time on WoW. If someone in guild or general is asking for help and I'm able to and not busy I always offer.

I have never minded helping newcomers to the game, after all I was there to. There are plenty of elite only players who kind of ruin some of the experience for me, but I can't fault their logic either. If you're in my guild and I'm not in the middle of something I'll help out, or encourage others to. Always comes in handy when you get to raids or getting PvP crews together.
