Alas, no. I'm stuck carpooling and using Uber and the like until I can find something nice. Not convenient, to be sure.

Used to have a car, but I found it annoying to have since I would have to hunt down space to park it in,gas was expensive and shitty kids in the neighborhood thought it was great to lean against to hang out instead of doing something productive like reading and trying to prepare for their future. I let my brother have it and now I feel quite comfortable knowing I don't have to worry about jaywalkers when I go to work since I now take the train.

Really good views from the people. I agree that there is no use having a car in a city since distances are quite low and keeping a car is quite expensive even when the prices are rising all the time.

Not yet. Still trying to muster money any way I can in order to buy one personally. I'm on my way... slowly but smartly. :D

Not at the moment, I'm looking to buy one soon. Not sure about the company but I'll have to see.

I do, I have a Prius. Everyone rags on me about my little car, but dang it, it's cute, and it can really move! I love my car, and it gets killer gas mileage.

Red 2009 Volkswagen Rabbit (Golf). Got it used for an awesome price. Fun little car with pretty nice acceleration and handling.

moneyman, you'll get there. I'm pretty sure I have a few years on you, and besides, those "new cars" come with car payments that an $800 Honda doesn't have....that's a luxury you have that I don't! :) The grass may look greener on the other side, but it takes a lot of crap to get like that. ;)

Nah, not really. I never even actually considered it to be honest. I live in an average sized town in Europe and I use my bike to go everywhere that isn't in walking distance which is very rare. I live 15-20 minutes from both my work and school so I'm really lucky though.

At the moment no. Previously had an awesome POS Chevy Beretta with like 200k miles. Thing was rescued from a car dump, fixed up by a retired engineer and it was sitting for eons before I picked it up for $600. Had to replace the alternator, battery, oil and clean out the fuel filter, ect but it was the best piece of crap ever. I swear the thing was only running on 5 cylinders instead of all 6. Drove the crap out of it up and down Seattle's rough as shit hills. The thing managed to haul its rusty/mildewed ass from Washington all the way to the Midwest crossing the Cascades and the Rockies. It still survived a year after moving before it finally gave out. I miss that thing fiercely. I've been taking the bus and walking to where I need to go since buying a decent car in the Midwest costs a crap ton since salt chews through cars like no tomorrow, high insurance rates cause everyone here can't drive for shit, and gas prices on top of way higher maintenance costs due to shit roads has me holding off on getting another one anytime soon.

A little tip/trick about the car stuff from a fellow Midwesterner.

I know it seems like a waste of time if the roads are still covered with salt/snow/crap, but spraying off the undercarriage of your car frequently during the winter will help cut down on the salt damage. The reason WHY everyone's cars get eaten up by the salt is because no one washes it off until Spring.

Oh I know that spraying off the salt the minute I get home works wonders, but compared to living out West, the harsher road conditions overall just destroys vehicles. I mean Seattle was dubbed the transmission killer as a joke, but there were hardly any pot holes, no salt on the roads. This region's rough on cars, that's just how it is. My Beretta would never have survived past its first 7 years of existence in this region unless someone meticulously took care of it- as in kept it in a climate controlled garage and only brought it out on sunny days. Saw one a few years back in pristine condition on craigslist owned by an old woman whose husband bought it as a prestige car when it first came out. It's going for a few thousand in this area.

It's incredibly rare to see cars prior to 1999 in this region as everyday vehicles because of the overall nature of its harshness on them. Back home we're driving cars from the 70's as everyday vehicles year round. Hell, the typical car out there is a 90's Subaru Outback, 70-80's truck of some sort or 90's SUV. Sure there's new vehicles on the road, but not to the extent here. I'd be lucky to see 1 90's vehicle still running on the roads once or twice a month in this region haha. Combined with decent public transportation, overall cost of having a vehicle there is really really low. Only busted out my car on the weekends for grocery shopping or going out to the wilderness. Here you have to drive everywhere to do anything or get anything done.

I do but sometime I wish that I did not with how much I am having to pay to have it fixed lately. It seems to go in waves though, so hopefully this will give me a little break and it will run well for a while, but it really can be a headache. I do realize all the good that it does for me though, so don't think I am ungrateful.

Nope and dont ever really intend on every getting one, A license might be useful but I dont intend on getting a car. The insurance would just cost too much money for a start on top of the actual car itself. That and Im more of a fan of motorcycles.

At the moment Im content using public transport and cycling everywhere for the time being.

I don't own a car because I am not old enough to own one. Even if I could, they are very expensive to manage and purchase. Car dealerships are sort of a ripoff anyway. If it were up to me, I'd like to have one of those self-driving cars if they ever become mass produced. I like to multitask.

We have a family van that we use for travelling. It's kind of bulky especially since it's just the three of us, my husband, son and me. But it was his parents' and his mom bought it without thinking it over, his words not mine, haha! Anyway, I hope we can get a smaller car soon just enough to fit our small family.

At the moment I'm driving a decadeish old Cavalier. In the next year or so I'll probably be looking at something new. I'm not too sure what I'll be looking at yet.

I have a Ford Expedition but I really would like to have a small car as well. That way I don't spend so much money on gas when its just me or a couple of people in the car. Maybe a Honda Accord or maybe a Mitsubishi Lancer.
