Do you see mods coming to the consoles?

Maybe in a form of a big DLC pack that consists of multiple mods. Publishing games is a very different procedure on consoles. They have to go through a quality check first from each respective manufacturer then they can be put in the store. I assume this is not a cheap thing to do, so I don't think you'll see individual mods on consoles.

Quality control? It's not that, it's just that the tools from the console manufacturers to make the games cost a lot of money, so only studios with a lot of money to put into the game will be making games for console. That's why you don't really see indie games on console.

The problem is that the companies with a lot of money to put into games like that are the same companies pushing day 0 DLC and overpriced games locked at 30fps.

You have to keep in mind mods are what they are because of the freedom. Home systems are a confined space. The only way you'd see mods TRULY come to the home systems is if Microsoft and Sony are willing to remove some of the constraint on XBL or PSN respectively. So with that said, I don't see it happening in the traditional sense.

What you'll probably see is Microsoft try to get us to by the mods via dlc and basically try to make people pay for what the personal computer users get free.

Yeah, I don't really see any of the restrictions coming off of the PS4 any time soon. Remember when the PS3 was jailbroken and there was a huge lawsuit against the guy that did it? He had is own console at home that he paid for with his own money, and got sued for writing code that made it do something that it was advertised as able to do.

Console companies want to try all games within their own sandbox. You are not allowed to mod or make any chnages, unless by force, aka: hacking.
    tl;dr: No

Mods probably won't be transferred into consoles only because mods are a thing that have always been strictly PC. Sure, there are cheats for console games that get some pretty sweet perks, but mods themselves require so much more depth and space than a console has at its disposal. It isn't like there is a folder to put them all in and be able to access at all times. If mods came to consoles, it would definitely be a monetary thing and not about the users customizing and enjoying their game.

Perhaps yeah, I'm not sure though we would have to wait and see, it could because it could have a future.

Nope. Due to the closed-down aspect of consoles, it's impossible to mod a console game, aside from a few trainers, which were very popular on GTA IV a few years back. If you want mods, play on PC.

That makes a lot of sense actually. I never thought of it that way, thank you bro.

Mods are meant more for a PC and would make the game less likely to function correctly on a console. If you want mods for that game, you're better off with a PC and having all the glorious modded fun you can have. I don't think any mods will actually reach console; the closest would be DLC's.

That is absolutely right. I think it will just stay for what it is meant to be built, it makes more sense that way.

It'll also open up a new world of de-bugging, complicated modded mess for someone at tech support to try and unravel. Plus, it's hard to expect the same mods to not only operate on PC, but also on a console that it wasn't meant for. All in all, it sounds like a gigantic wired nightmare that I wouldn't be interested in dealing with.

I don't see them bringing mods to the console version, think it will just be a PC thing.

A lot of people seem to disagree. But it would be really cool...

There is 0 chance of it happening. Console servers are not built with any flexibility in mind. Even patches are a load on the servers, so much so that developers have to pay to deploy updates to a title. That Minecraft arrived on console at all must have been some major debate and compromise for the devs, since it would need to be updated often.

So no, Mods will not happen in the near-future, not for any game on the consoles.

Nope. Not a chance. Mods will never come to console. Unless they are purchased by Microsoft. They will not come to Console, and even then games on the XBMP have a cap to the number of DLC, and mods on console would be DLC. If you want mods the only way you'll ever get them is on PC, and that is how gaming should be done. It is so wildly unlikely that mods will ever be on console. I'm sorry, but that's just the truth. The modding community is for PC and not console.

I don't think they will ever port mods to consoles since it's only a thing for PC versions only. They may make a DLC if the owners of mods accept it but otherwise I don't they won't bother doing anything in that regard.

Lol not really, mods aren't really that huge on consoles and would probably be a little bit to much work, it would be amazing if they did and I would break out my Xbox again and play there some more.
