Well that is kind of like saying "Do you think Lego's will ever die out." I am 29 now and kids still love Legos. Minecraft is like adult legos. The legend of minecraft will never die. It will continue to be fun as long as it keeps coming out with new stuff in the updates.

I totally agree with you. With lots of kids playing this game and being creative this will be the new Lego for future generations. For example, Legos are still popular and they have been around for a long time, maybe that will be the same destiny for Minecraft.

I don't think it'll die out. If anything they'll just make glasses so you can go into a virtual world and play it hands on. No though, I don't think it'll die out, or any time soon anyway.

I also wanted to add that their are games like minecraft , but they all take their inspiration from minecraft so its not likely that minecraft will ever die it will simply just be improved.

Hey that glasses idea for the virtual word is really cool, they already have the Google glass so who knows they might implement it in minecraft as well though.

In short, yes it will die off.

Every game dies off. Even COD will die off one day. It is just how evolution works. However, it won't be for a long time. As already stated, even after Mojang decide to stop updating and move on to different games, the modding community will keep the game alive. Minecraft generally relies on mods and servers to stay alive at the moment, the updates do hardly anything to make it interesting (apart from redstone, that has gotten much better recently).

Any game in the world will eventually fall. But for now, I think that Minecraft is on a really good path. It seems to be going uphill and in a positive direction. Everyday, it seems that more and more people are joining the community. What's great about the game is that the community seems to be really nice. Most popular games are corrupted with crazy kids, but I don't really see that in Minecraft. I think it's really great and I do hope that Minecraft doesn't die so soon.

Yeah, every games die, not literally but yeah. But since Microsoft bought Mojang I think Minecraft will still be alive for more couple of years.

All good things must come to pass, so sometime down the road Minecraft will wane in popularity. The game will stop developing and pushing boundaries, or another, more popular game will come along and supercede it.

Minecraft has a huge following meaning it wouldn't make any sense putting it down. Don't worry, Minecraft is here to stay people.

Everything must come to an end at some point. It's not going to live forever that's for sure, not unless it does really well. I think it will hold up for a long time though because it doesn't rely on technicalities to impress.

Mine-craft is a game that will never die. People will always create spin-offs and mods. The fan base may boil down to something insignificant but this game will never die.

I don't think Minecraft will die off anytime soon. It is extremely popular right now, and with new mods and updates coming frequently, it will stay fresh. It could die out if the updates stop coming, however, due to the amount of money it generates right now, it is very unlikely this would happen. There are also many possibilities available in Minecraft and it is hard to get truly tired of it. Unless a new game is released (that people move to from Minecraft) it is extremely unlikely that Minecraft will just "die out".

It has a very large fanbase and it is very cheap compared to other games. Right now its growing and its getting to be on almost all consoles. It might die one day but I can not see that happening, not for at least 10 years to come if everything stays as it is right now, I mean if they don't ruin it but keep updating it.

It really depends on what the developers are going to add to the game and it also depends on what games are going to come up. You never know when a game with the same franchise as Minecraft will come up but it will have better features, that resulting in probably replacing Minecraft.
Anyhow, I don't think it will die soon, it is a perfect game for kids and as long as they keep Minecraft fresh I don't see it die!

Every game dies eventually, but I think there are always people that go back to play it. Minecraft is a sandbox game that never ends, so I think that the people that go back to it are going to have a lot more fun. There are still people playing daggerfall (the second elder scrolls game), so good games tend to last a long time.

Nah, probably not. Much of the current young generation is playing it, so if it ever does die, it will be after this generation deems it out of style. I hope that Minecraft will have a long life, especially due to the qualities that it encourages. It is a good game and worthy of becoming one of the greats.

Lets hope that Microsoft buying Mojang doesn't ruin the game in any way, and actually makes it better and with tons of new elements, maybe a HD graphic replacement by switching from java and so on. But no, I don't think it will die, as many people have said and I myself support, the fanbase is way too big, the game is already a well known trade mark in the gaming industry and recognizable anywhere, mostly everyone has at least heard of minecraft. So no, I don't think it can die off. It will probably only decrease in popularity with time but not die off completely.
