Do you think this game will have a huge pro following?

Well it does have one already, and the game hasn't come out yet!
And hey, it's a Blizzard game so of course it will have a huge following. I'm following it right now, so they must be doing something right. :p

^ I'm mostly curious what effect this will have on other games...we are in a new odd place where people swarm whatever game is popular for twitch $ and then that leads to a game becoming popular due to free ad time, i'm being very observant

I reckon there is no way this game doesn't foster some degree of pro-scene at this point; there is already a pro-scene developing and the game is only in beta. This game has a massive following that will only get bigger come the open beta in a few weeks time. Furthermore, to repeat what others before me have said, this is a Bizzard game, it's almost a certainty that it will have a large following anyway and Blizzard have a knack for fostering pro-scenes for their competitive games. Even Heroes of the Storm, a game specifically designed to be a casual alternative to the core-MOBAS like DOTA and LoL, has managed to spark a decent enough pro-scene.

The real question is whether or not Overwatch is going to become as big an eSport as CS:GO, DOTA or LoL. To be honest, I reckon so.

It probably will have at least some sort of pro scene. Any game with a solid competitive aspect will always have people playing it professionally nowadays.

^ Definitely, I am curious if it will overtake the popularity of hearthstone/LoL that currently runs twitch most of the time.

Pro teams have already formed. Just look at Cloud9's roster. Some CS:GO players have expressed interest in switching over to Overwatch.

They will switch and it will have a following entirely on Blizzard's money, it is Blizzard after all so regardless Overwatch is going to get the interest of the pro players. Some of the teams picked up right now seem to be a lot of Battlefield ones though, I wonder how well they will perform once the game is out and everyone goes hard on it.

I'm not sure about a pro following, but I'm sure this will get a lot of big time streamers playing it. One it gets a huge following, there likely will be a push from pro players. It's a blizzard game so that alone will get a huge following.

I don't know for sure... But here's the thing, Overwatch has been quite talked about, from magazines, to gaming websites and bloggers. As far as I can remember, no other MOBA game has gone this far recently. Every review I come across only have good words for the game itself.

But as far as becoming a game with a large pro following, that depends on the developments of the game itself. As of now, we see positive reviews for beta and that's a good sign. However, it still depends on Blizzard if Overwatch can maintain this following.

Look at DoTa and LoL, even now, they have such huge number of players. It also is a factor that it's a free to play platform. I don't know if Overwatch can equal that being a pay to play platform.

Yeah I think with a company like this a professional scene is inevitable because they are one of the pioneers for it so they must already have had it in mind when making this game. I'm excited to see how this game will evolve in the next few years.
