Do you think World of Warcraft will ever have a sequel?

Blizzard has actually stated that there will be more expansions after Warlords of Draenor. As long as World of Warcraft is still profitable, it makes sense for them to keep developing content for it. It looks like it will be a while before Titan is ready to be released as well, so it makes sense for there to be at least one more expansion after WoD, possibly more.

Anyway, to answer the original question - I think it really depends on a lot of factors. Blizzard has stated in the past that Titan will not be related to Warcraft, so we know that their next MMO will not be a sequel to World of Warcraft. Even if Blizzard decides to a World of Warcraft 2 after Titan has become irrelevant, that could take ages. If Titan manages to survive for as long as World of Warcraft did, their next MMO project is ten years or more away. Who knows, maybe Warcraft won't even be relevant anymore by then.

What are ESO and EQ Next? I think they will put the next MMO out when they start seeing that WoW is not viable anymore. I dont think they expected it to last as much as it did. Its 10 years old and has 6mil+ subscribers which is pretty crazy. I dont expect them to fundamentally make a new game and experience, they will just take the best the gaming world offers and make a game out of it!

To be honest, if we don't see a sequel to the game within the next 5 years, then it's likely we'll at least see two or three expansions. A large reason the sims 2 and 3 were so far apart from each other was the expansions each of them had. I believe the same can be said of WoW in this scenario.

Jamal, they have not one, but seven expansions planned after warlords of draenor. They said so in an interview. Probably working on the early stages of the next expansion right now.

As for my opinion on the subject, I think it is possible for a world of warcraft 2 , depending on video game technology seven years from now. If they can find a way to creative and exciting way to recycle world of warcraft , bet every last copper you have that their going to do it. I can only see them letting wow die out if a new title comes out that successfully kills wow. Either by them or not. It will be curious to see them try.

A sequel in Blizzards vision would probably mean another huge expansion in which they update the graphics to modern day standards though the game being so big and with interconnected zones it would be quite costly to just plump new textures on an old game engine, they might have to rework the entire game from scratch in which case WoW 2 will come about, probably with a more creative title than that.

And presumably just another game that will bear another name, so as to keep the spirit of WoW intact in its own category and not just spoil it for the people who won't have the money to buy the latest hardware to play the new version.

I am highly doubtful. WoW already has a very dedicated and large fanbase. I think Blizzard already profits a lot from the subscriptions of these players. However, I think they have done well with the Hearthstone spinoff. It seems very successful and a lot of my friends are playing it (I'm not, it just didn't really interest me). I think it's better the Blizzard continues to cater and support the current players of Wow than developing a sequel that is risky and unknown.

If it was Ubisoft, we definitely would have had another 10 WoW games to play by now, but it's Blizzard thankfully. They like to do things at their own pace.To answer your question, I think there will be a sequel to this game, but just not in near future.

The only way WoW would have a successful sequel is if they did what Guild Wars did. Develop the new game while still updating the old until the new version is ready to go live. Then when it's ready to launch, the old players who have old achievements and whatnot will have that info ported over as well as special bonuses for partaking in the old version of the game. I can see the original WoW go close to F2P or cheap to play at that point. The reason why WoW has survived so long is because the graphics are stylistic rather than realistic, making it age better than other games. If they carry that same philosophy with a better game engine and gameplay, then a sequel is very viable.

100% sure, a game that has been so shocking certainly will have one sequel. I'm pretty sure they will, because of its success. Maybe there will be changes, but not so much significants. We will have to wait for it!

I don't think there will ever be a sequel. There will probably be an expansion that majorly overhauls the game. I don't think that they will make one, they will just keep adding expansion packs until it finally dies, with nobody coming back, even with new expansion releases. At that point I think it would be done, and the developers would move on.

I don't think they will create a sequel. They can just keep revamping the graphics and releasing expansions and it would work a lot better in my opinion. MMOs that have a lot of things to do are much better than the ones that are just grind fests. So I think expansions are the way to go to achieve a huge world with many sidequests.

Perosnally I do not think they will because they will just add more expantion packs but they will prob make another game with the lore of WoW but not a WoW2.

honestly they shouldn't make a sequel. Some games are meant to be constantly updated, like Minecraft and WoW. They aren't meant to have sequels , and at most they should have a reboot 5 years after the last update rolls out. If they DO make a Wow 2, I hope it's Blizzard making it, and not some other company.

I highly doubt a sequel will ever come around. Doing so would be seen more like a cash grab, and far fewer subscriers would jump into a new WoW game for that reason.

I don't think they can effectively make a sequel since people are too used to their current characters and achievements to just jump ship to a new game, it would end up breaking their player base and make both games worse.
What they should do is keep updating WoW, just like they did now with the new character models.

I think with the cancellation of Titan, and the huge spike in WOW subscribers this quarter, it is unlikely they will want to rock the boat. I think updating the character models was a huge undertaking that they wouldn´t have done if they had a sequel in the works. I think they are going to continue what they have done the past 4 years. create ´copies´ of already existing games.. Hearthstone ( Magic) Pet battles ( pokemon) Heroes of the Storm ( LOL) and now the new one.
