Do you want any multiplayer or co-op elements?

I think that if Fallout implemented multiplayer in a way similar to Borderlands 2, it could be pretty fun. For those unfamiliar, in Borderlands 2, you have your own character and story mode, but you’re capable of jumping into the campaign of a friend. For example, you can be a level 5 in the very beginning of the story mode, and your level 25 friend can come in and play with you. (Monsters in the game are balanced when a new player joins to make sure that it’s still challenging for both of you.) You can play with up to three different players at once. It’s not an open lobby, either, so you can choose who can and can’t play with you.
Granted, Fallout’s story is a bit more involved than Borderlands’ story. The choices that you make in Fallout probably would not have as much weight if you knew that you could just go into a friend’s game to experience what would have happened if you chose differently.

A tough question in that both sides of the argument do have valid reasons. I myself would prefer Bethesda stay true to Fallout's single player history. That being said, a Fallout game dedicated to online play would make for an awesome experience.

I have not really had the experience of playing any games with others across the country and world from me. However, I have heard others say the experience is great. I am undecided as to whether or not I would use this kind of feature in my gaming system.

If they did something like Dead Island but way better then I would be OK with it, it would be cool to go around with friends in the wasteland but I don't feel it should be top priority.

If there was any form of multiplayer mode in the game, I think they'd probably have an option for some sort of party or friends only option.

Well of course it is optional to play singleplayer or not. But multiplayer looks almost genius. I would love to see that added, and play with my friends.

Then that will be the only way you can get me to play Multiplayer then. Otherwise, I'm more than happy having the game world by myself and not have to deal with morons ruining my fun...unless I get to bomb and loot their corpse:p

From a story perspective, I don't think multiplayer would work in a Fallout game. The story is centered around an individual. If they drastically changed the character backgrounds so you are a mostly faceless individual, coop could work, as you would just jump in and start playing, but you'd lose a big part of what makes the Fallout games great.

I don't care much for multiplayer. It's nice to have the option, but I think for this game especially, it'd be better to just have single player.

You know what? No, I don't care about multiplayer in my Fallout games. I like Fallout games to be about your own journey alone in the vast wastelands, with no intruders from the outside world, for full immersion. I play them for all sorts of reasons, and one of them is that they're well made single player games.

I just want co-op. Just plain old player 2 stuff, no added mechanics or dedicated story, I just want to be able to have a friend also there.
