I've heard that EA is removing threads about mods for the game on their forums, saying that it's not the place to discuss that or something like that.

Well lets hope that the new CEO won't support DRM.

The chances of that happening are very slim, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The russian version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky and Call Of Pripyat let you play the game for three days. After that you are required to put your dvd in the drive and a basic disc check is performed.I wouldn't mind that kind of DRM.
And the whole "pirates will pirate no mater what" is dumb.If a game is good, people (even pirates) will buy it. I should give an example with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. again. We all know the numbers it sold. Even if they are not that impressive by today's standarts it was very impressive of a PC game to sell 2 million copies back then.

This kind of DRM is the only way to save our beloved boxed copies rather than going all digital :D

DRM, or Digital Rights Management is a type of software, designed to stop piracy of games. Steam is an example of DRM, albeit the most accepted type. GFWL is also a type of DRM, and is regarded as pretty annoying. DRM tends to make you either play online always, or verify every time you start the game. It's not popular among gamers, but quite popular among game developers/publishers.
