I main Vindictus. It's action based game, and it's really fun! It's a PC only game though.

The game has been able to go P2P for so long this far because of its popularity... I think other games will become more sucessful if they go P2P.

LOL. Yeeeah, that's a popular "players view only" mod people do. (Meaning, the player themselves can see it but other players cannot.) But trust me, it's a very fun game, naked ladies aside lol.

I'll have to check it out, you know, naked ladies aside! Totally for the game play, honest! :)

    Yep.
So I think free to play MMOs were fun at first, until you hit such a wall that only money can buy your way across, or when the players you are up against bought their way to own you in the face. Free to play is not free if you want to stay competitive, or to achieve certain goal in the game.

The buy your way to success part actually ruins the game in my opinion. Nowadays there are too many games like that. I have heard a random story from my cousin who said a player spent over $3,000 in a game was one hit dead by another player. He was pissed and complained how he spent over $3,000 and how is that even possible. The player who killed him replied "I spent $16,000 in the game"...

So basically it is just to see who has a bigger wallet. Not my idea of having fun.

I'd rather take a subscription based game to pay monthly fee simply for the right to play the game instead of the right to own certain items or achieve certain levels/skills etc.

F2P and P2P are both usually horribly contrived engines that still intend to make as much money as possible at the cost of gameplay experience. Happens all the time. They call it p2w for a reason, it's a real phenomenon and it's seriously disgusting but hey, that's life sometimes

I rather buy for a game once and play it as much as I want. Maybe buy some optional DLC down the line if the additional content is any good. Like Guild Wars 2 when it wasn't free.

I agree, especially with some subscription fees equaling to what a console game is worth. The last MMO I played was The Secret World and I still believe it would have been much better if it was a single player game with multiplayer features to it. Other than that, there are very few games that I'll pay for because there are little games that fit the genre that I'm looking for.

The thing about f2p mmos is that they almost always, always always mess it up somehow and end up making it so that the p2p elements interfere with the core of gameplay, which is exactly the opposite of what makes the game fun. It's a huge problem. Every game that does this ends up diluting some element of the experience, and it's maddening unless you're ready to throw your wallet at the game...which is what they want -_-

F2P definitely. Makes a LOT of more sense than the stupid P2P concept. You pay for what you like, WHEN you like it. This concept is one of the major parts of a F2P game that draws more players. And tbh, this is how the market is going at the moment. On the other hand, I totally agree with others in this thread that many F2P games just die because the devs are just too lazy or too money hungry and that makes them convert the game from F2P to P2W, which ultimately kills the game.

There's a distinction to be made between subscription and pay-to-win. I'm all in favor of a subscription based MMORPG, it typically costs less than a movie ticket per month. If people can buy their way to the top though it devalues any sense of achievement in the game.

I am all for the b2p model. You pay once, and you can play as long as you like. Many games had success with this. Take Guild Wars for example.
