Played on Normal Hardcore (my favorite setting).

Reich mission was just awful. Had to be crouched the whole time and still took hits nonstop. Died countless times and just had to push my luck to get to the next checkpoint, which bugged the first time as the game froze when I was picking up the railgun from a checkpoint restart. Just absolutely not fun.

Sniper mission was rather fun as I Sam Fisher'd the Nazis, rather enjoyed the old school of insta-failing for sounding an alarm. Wish it continued on into the infiltration that ended the mission, would've happily taken that over the Reich mission.

The Ranger Mission was easily the cream of the crop, worth getting the DLC alone for. Still haven't beaten it yet, but absolutely love the concept of the mission with hopping back and forth from the surface and earning bullets to upgrade your arsenal. Had to restart once as I kinda screwed up buying the heavy armor suit before the radiation suit, and got stuck once I opened the Demon room and couldn't progress as I was out of money and out of filters. Doing much better this second time around though! Really would love to see the next Metro game build more on this aspect for a possible more open world game that relies on Stalking to for building your funds.

how are you meant to continue from a checkpoint? When I go back to the game I have to start from the beginning again.

If you're talking about the ranger mission, you go to sleep in the back door of the base to save your progress.
If you're talking about the red and/or the Reich mission, checkpoints are there in case you die. If you exit, you'll most probably have to start over from the beginning. They're not that long.

They need to make a game like the stalker missions, would be a perfect mix of linear and open world.

I guess I should have gotten round to this after finishing the DLC on the 16th, but I'm lazy. Anyway, here is what I put in my recommendation for this DLC on Steam:

UPDATE: Could the author of this thread please add a poll to this, asking which mission was your favourite of the pack? It would be interesting to see the community's opinion, even if it seems obvious. *cough* Kshatriya *cough*

Hmm, you seem to never sprint, and i feel like your filters last much more than mine(i do spring a lot), so does sprinting reduce your filter time? I feel like i'm missing something big here.

  13. It did in the first game, but not anymore. You can run and jump around as much as you want and they will still last 5 minutes each.

It's not possible to add polls after creating a thread, I'm afraid, or I'd do it myself.
I'd vote for the Red Sniper Mission ;)

The heatwave we're having in the UK atm is causing Metro to crash. In fact it's the only game which ramps my GPU up towards 90 degrees. **eek!!!***

  16. It made my GPU overheat as well. Started in late may with BSODs and restarts without warning.

    At first I did this:

Then I actually used my brain, took my computer apart, cleaned it up, replaced the thermal paste on everything, removed all dust from the radiators, and now it runs perfectly even with 40+ degrees Celcius in the appartment.

    Also cooler fan speed controls.

Kshatriya, all by itself, made this worth it in my opinion. I did wish I could get some more varied hardware for my troubles however.

However I am VERY sad that I can't get my volt driver in the main storyline :( I badly want to use it on that cursed Shrimp Boss on Ranger Hardcore.

I'm still readying myself to play it, played a bit, was in the main atrium on the first floor, watchers surrounded me, attacked, cracked my mask, I was half dead plants were attacking me, everything going wrong, suffocating, ran, jumped off to ground floor, legs snapped, and I guess something thought I was a delightful snack with added tricycle
