For me it has to be New Vegas. The guys who created the game, were the ones who produced the original Fallout and Fallout 2, and it shows in the games` writing. Story-wise Fallout 3 was a total letdown for me, and the ending was one of the worst I have ever seen in any game. On the other hand, New Vegas has a deep, emotional tale which got even better if you played the DLC`s and found out about the courier who was originally supposed to deliver the Platinum Chip.
I enjoyed playing both of them, Immensely, but if I had to to be honest, I enjoyed fallout 3 alot more, there were just too many things to get use to in New Vegas, that made the learning curve a little too much.
The crafting system was indeed a bit overcomplicated, as were the many bullet types you could use for the same weapon. I ended up barely using crafting at all.
Fallout New Vegas. The story was really fun and there were a lot of interesting characters and enemies. The strip storyline is a lot better than Fallout 3's IMO.
Fallout: New Vegas had one major letdown, though: The Final Boss. If you leveled up high enough and maxed out certain skills, you could literally one shot the guy. Not as epic a battle as I had expected.
This Is a tough decision to make. I guess if I had to pick one between the two I would have to pick Fallout: New Vegas. The only reason why I choose Fallout: New Vegas over Fallout 3 is because you can use iron sights in New Vegas, unlike fallout 3. That and the graphics are a little better.
Seems like opinions are pretty split here, and I'm really curious to see if some sort of consensus can be made. I'm going to start a poll in a new thread! Personally, I liked fallout 3 more, simply because I get a more intense feeling of nostalgia when I play it...
I prefer New Vegas. One of the main reasons is that you can choose your faction and also the faction wars are amazing. The storyline in Fallout 3 is much much better and it has a very strong emotional impact for the player. I played them both, I like them both, I think they are amazing RPG's but I prefer New Vegas for it's higher level of freedom. But I miss the bobbleheads.
