I'd have to say that either FPS or RTS are my favorites. I mean, RPG is still up there, but I don't spend as much time on that genre as I used to. None of the new games coming out have really caught my interest lately.

I actually prefer single player RPGs over MMORPGs, with turn-based RPGs being first. I guess my second favorite genre would be turn-based strategy games or one that mixes with RPG elements, such as Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor/2. Then, in third place, it would be puzzle orientated titles. I suppose I simply prefer games where much more thinking is required than the grind of MMOs. A solid story-line is always nice as well.

MMORPGs has never been a favorite genre for me. It's not that they're terrible though. It's fun playing with friends and what not, but if given a choice to only play RPGs and MMORPGs, I would definitely choose RPGs.

I would have to say that Real Time Strategy probably qualifies as my favorite genre, that's overall, and I should say that the quality of RTS games has decreased a bit in the last few years, and besides Starcraft 2, we fans of the genre don't have much to rely on. The complexity, tactics and strategical elements plus the heavy emphasis on development has always made me excited about playing such games, and there is just something about massive epic battles with your created army that gives me a lot of pleasure. It would then have to be followed by MMO's and single player RPGs.

My favorite MMO was definitely Warhammer Online. I feel like if it hadn't been rushed out the door and had a few months more polish, it could have really been something great. The art and PvP were just outstanding, however the many bugs made it virtually unplayable most of the time.

If I had to choice I would choose RPGs. I just can't take all of the constant killing in fps' and I don't really have enough friends to play MMOs with. RPGs though I absolutely adore! I just love spending hours grinding and trying to figure out puzzles. There is nothing better than the joy you feel after figuring out a puzzle in legend of Zelda!

I think a really good MMO probably beats all, but overall I love fighting games and strategy/puzzle games (like Portal and Zelda) just as much.

A quality MMO is the best, but there are usually issues that happen with them. My favorite games that I almost always have fun with are RTS and RPG games. Ive always enjoyed puzzles and "outsmarting" opponents is a lot of fun for me

I love MMO's obviously, other than that the a good single player RPG so I can enjoy the story.
FPS's, RTS's and Racing games never were my cup of tea, mostly because I suck at them (I'm OK with turn-based strategy like Civilization where I can take my time) :)

General RPG and Sandbox games are my favorites. It's pretty hard to mess up an RPG unless you make it pay2win or something like that.

I love RPG games. I like single player games. I can be antisocial online and it's usually my time to step away from the world, therefore RPGs are for me. I love it when they have great story-lines, it encourages me to continue until the very end, just because I want to know what happens next.

Get a non-laggy server and I can play MMORPG's for hours or days. I mean, come on. When I was a kid, I remember wishing that games like MMORPGs existed. And I'm excited to see where they end up going in the future.

I think if a good, solid RPG can keep me engaged, it cements the genre as my favorite. However, for sheer amount of what I go back to almost on a daily basis, FPS is my genre. I also love a good RTS, though, so these three are constantly fighting their way for top spot in my favorite genres.
