Favorite RPG soundtrack?

Although it's not really a soundtrack, I love to hear "When the dragonborn comes" from Skyrim. Whenever I'm in a tavern and a bard is playing, I request the song and run outside with a grin on my face. It's just funny to hear a song and know it's about you.

 

That song has a great remix on YouTube, just look up Malukah and Dragonborn Comes, I think she did a great job singing that song.

 

I'd go with Final Fantasy.

 

Kingdom Hearts did it for me. Especially the orchestra versions of the songs. To me, I could really sense the emotions they songs were meant to convey, my favorite being Dearly Beloved.

 

Not quite an RPG, but a game with RPG elements that has an amazing soundtrack would have to be Castlevania SOTN.

For traditional RPG/JRPG I would have to go with Breath of Fire III because it uses a mixture of early classical synths. Honestly, it's just badass.

 

Oh! Breath of Fire does have a pretty cool soundtrack. I think that's the one thing that Capcom always does right, the soundtracks. Similarly to how Sonic games have good soundtracks 99% of the time (the DS RPG by Bioware is the one exception, it's horrible)

 

I just love sound tracks of the Final Fantasy series. Especially the newer games have an awesome sound track!

 

It's really hard to pick this but I loved the Chrono Trigger soundtrack. I haven't played many FF games but I've heard some awesome music from them!

 

FF X and Kingdom Hearts IMO, the tunes inside the game always rings over and over again in my head, maybe i just overplayed them (i played both 5 times, three for the endings, two to help my sister play the game whenever it gets too hard for her).

 

FF VII would be my favorite. Aerith's theme is so good, and the Mako reactor theme is great too! I really like what they did with it in Advent children. I have to give it to Secret of Mana also. For a 16 bit game it had some dope sounds.

 

I loved the music from both Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Even if some of the games were disappointing, the music felt awe-inspiring, heartfelt and just plain melancholy for when it needed it to be. When a composition can do that, even when it's not coupled with the scene it's from, you KNOW you have a winning combination. I love that about their company.

 

Kingdom Hearts hands down! Anyone who says anything different clearly has never listened to the soundtrack! Haha! The orchestra and violin versions are phenomenal!

 

Xenosaga. Key pieces are recorded by the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Voices. The entire soundtrack is bombastic and haunting at the same time. It is one of Mitsuda's masterpiece works as a video game music composer.

 

People always laugh at me when I say that FF8 was my favorite soundtrack in a game, but its true, and for pretty much the same reason. Though Final Fantasy series has long had great soundtracks and if not for Eyes on Me there wouldn't be too much to set it above any of the other games in the franchise.

Some other games with amazing sound tracks are Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, Company of Heroes, Skyrim... Okay, you know what lets just say anything with Jeremy Soule in it because I just realized that I listed 4 of his games.

 

Jeremy Soule is a great composer even if his personality isn't the best. He's done a few key pieces for WoW and collabed in other games as well. GW2 has really nice music and I own the soundtrack because of it haha. $30 well spent imo.

 

Can it be whole series worth? Because if so, then mine would be Nobuo Uematsu's works on the Final Fantasy series. It has compelled me ever since the beginning (my first Final Fantasy would be IV, back then when it was called II in the states). The versions of the earlier ones I've heard would be the remakes, like the GBA remake of Final Fantasy I and II.

If you mean tracks, then my most favorite would be Dancing Mad from Final Fantasy VI, the final battle theme. It's a glorious 15-minute (if I remember correctly) final battle music. I can't get it off my head, especially the second part.

I kinda like the newer Final Fantasy tracks, like Yusnaan's Theme at both morning and night, but others aren't as appealing as it was before. I do have crazy hair raising moments with the track Almighty Bhunivelze, which serves as XIII-3's final boss music.

Other games who's OSTs I like would be the Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, and the Ar Tonelico series, which makes for some good ones as well.

EXEC_COSMOFLIPS/, EXEC_EP=NOVA/, and A Strange Play ~ The Second are some from Ar Tonelico that I like, haha.

 

The soundtrack for To The Moon was seriously the most beautiful thing ever to be heard. Everything about it is perfect, from the instrumentals to the lyrical song which brought me to tears.


Seriously, how can one soundtrack have that much beauty in it?

Some other RPG games that I've loved the soundtracks have been Persona 4, Kingdom Hearts (yeah basically the whole series has great music in my opinion), and a lot of the music from Pokemon games are great.

 

I love games soundtracks, Far Cry 3&4, Assassins Creed, GTA V and especially Skyrim. Skyrim has the best OST for me because it makes me calm and happy.

5-The Tower of Shadow of Death

Those are probably my best favourite ones, that I totally admire.

 

I've always loved the background music in Ragnarok. I even always stay at this one dessert map near poring island just because the music is so good. It was classical music in big band orchestra style and it makes me so nostalgic for Ragnarok.
